You know things are getting bad when even Shaw's super market leaves town. April is still Very slow. A major trucking company is going too.
Dam might be time to relocate maybe some place warm.

Mine hasn't rung either. Spooky as all git.

The new commercial buildings are sitting empty and many retails vacancies have been empty for 6 months. There's rumors that the commercial real estate market is next to go.

Our newspaper business writer has a "Closing Blog" to mark each closure. Mostly specialty stores like "9-Inch Knives-Are-Us" and specialty chain stores that were surviving on corporate funds are closing.

We are in a 21st Century Great Depression, no doubt about it. The feds and press refuse to admit it for some reason.

Door hangers helped us out a bit, sent out 3500 in 2 weeks. We are getting a better response going door to door to introduce the company.
You gotta know you demographics. Average age here is 58 with many retired folks here home all day. I have a first year apprentice doing all the door to door, he is very personable and enjoys it alot.
We are not selling anything at the door, just saying hi and dropping off fridge magnets.

I got a bunch of chain reaction calls today. First was a sump pump replacement,

second was a water softener that wasn't working <<<< No damn salt in the tank! Did a manual recharge, upped it to 17 GPG and left.

Then another lady called, said her plumber died last monday of a heart attack. She's dying of bone cancer, bad situation.

I'm not taking anything for granted right now, I've eliminated all spending in regards to non-business related expenditures. This time in life is showing me how well I can operate without luxury. A lesson I hope I bring with me when things do turn around, because I'll really be managing money a whole lot better than before, instead of giving it away.

All I can say is the world is imploding around me and there are more victims than the MSM is going to let people know. And when these people run out of unemployment benefits?

Going to see Mel Gibson's movie back in the day come to life. Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome?

I got my ride ready for the road war,

I'm slammed.

Sold a $4400 tankless along with a $1700 water repipe today for a one bath house. Finished a $3600 tankless install on Saturday. A part time guy who I put in my old truck sold a $2500 water service today and picked up a $2800 check for a job he finished last week. Lots of other stuff going on also.

Not to rub it in for anyone who is struggling but it's cranking pretty good here right now.

I'm doing pretty good right now too. Starting a complete pex repipe with all new fixtures in the morning. I'll be done with that one by Wed., Thursday sort of open, Friday three service calls.

Must be in certain areas.
Our phones have been doing pretty good. I can't remember the last saturday that I didn't work.

Sure hope you guys get some calls. Always remeber to dial your own #. Once as a franchise, their 800 # went down for 3 days. Didn't get any calls from them anyway:laughing::laughing:

I had an unusually good February, a worthless March, and now it's picking back up again.

I lost one today - some high-roller who had his toilet pulled, had already tried a snake that wouldn't get past 8', and when I quoted him $153 to clear it, he started screaming highway robbery. I told him he wasn't committed yet and could call someone else. He was walking around the house boobing and told a guy smearing mud on the wall - "Only two guys in town that do this and the other one couldn't come out today."

He decided to call around, telling me: "I can get a sewer cleaned any day of the week for $55 to $65!" I didn't bother to ask the names of these low-ballers, since they don't exist.

I just laughed and went on to the next job. And actually, there are more guys in town who can do it - we've got a new Mr. Rooter that he apparently didn't know about. I don't know what that one charges, but I do know that there aren't any less than $95 at the very least.

If I knew how to play chess I would offer to play a game with you. Things are slow here too. I don't know what else I can do to drum up more business. I am in the yellow pages have ads in local papers a radio station I even went door to door passing out flyers which wore my fat butt out . I pass out my business card to everyone I meet. I even have ads on craig list and other local web sites. About the only thing I haven't done is get down on my knees and beg for work.(thats next:laughing:). I would like to get a website up but have no idea where to begin to do that.

Website's for me don't bring much calls probably 3-5 calls a year sad.
But I do believe websites still are the future and will pay off need to sit it out. I get around 5-6 thousand hits a month someone is looking problem is web is world wide.
Local paper costs more than my Yellow Pages ad, Have not tried radio yet need to make more before I do that. Banks won't lend. have to do it the hard way a dollar at a time.
My wife's hours were slashed big time so all the bills fall on me now 2 bad months and I'm sunk. Everyone I service seems very happy another problem is lack of commercial calls not many business around here.
I have a couple of costumers in Mass that I service once a year that's a 4 hour ride for me but worth it.

Not to laugh at you, but if it wasn't for my internet ads, I wouldn't have any business at all. And that ain't saying much.

Look in your yellow pages for a local web site designer (or google one anywhere), research their past work, and spend a grand getting a killer site up.

Spend the money and hire a pro. I wouldn't go over a grand for everything, google placement, etc. Don't sign your site and content over to them. Don't sign anything from them, in fact. They aren't a regulated trade, so it can get sleazy.

Man wish I had a grand
I paid and caught up on all my bills phone rang when I owed maybe I should stop paying my bills maybe the phone will ring again.
You are defiantly rite on needing a killer site
All the calls I get from the web are from property management places from other states. Problem is not much commercial around here.
