I had to do some work on a house that required me to remove the washer machine from the closet on the 2nd floor. When I did I noticed that the bottom of the plastic pan had these 6 "Fingers" that protruded upwards from the pan, I guessing it was for looks. Maybe it had in someway helped to stiffen the pan a bit too. Anyway there was a bunch of circular cut marks on these fingers. After I removed the pan I saw that the washer had actually cut several slices into the pan. Great, now if the washer had problems and leaked into the pan the water would still get onto the floor. I replaced it with a smooth bottom one and it it fine now. If yo replace a pan be sure to check for clearance between the bottom pulley and the pan.
