I coming for you Terrance. Cpvc pipe and fittings galore. Obviously I am lacking in hydronic heating, and I don’t recall a single question about it on the exam. Just finished the plumbing exam and if I didn’t score higher than 90 on that easy ass test I just took I’m going to be pissed.

What’s going to happen is, you’re going to come over here and get hemmed up by some ******* inspector and ran back to Florida with you tail tucked high and tight. Come own

Nah. I’m a pretty likable person.
I had a guy today say “ yeah, they not from here, they from Birmingham “ about a business…….gave me the nod.

You just have to live here to understand what I’m talking about. Out of towners get treated different.

You’ll encounter it one day and you’ll think of Terry……

It starts off……What’s yiur name ? Then leads into to…..Where did you go to school ? Then what neighborhood did you grow up in…….then they’ll name someone from that neighborhood you should know or know of 🤣

Nah. I keep it strictly business. I don’t answer those kinds of questions and in a way make them feel inferior for them asking to begin with. I just don’t hand out personal information that has nothing to do with why we’re even meeting or having a conversation period. I easily just ask a question right after their question pertaining to the work I’m doing. They know if they ask a personal question again they’ll look like a dumbass or jeopardize their ethics being in a position of authority. Rocky knows how to handle himself.

My sister in law has been getting $200 plus water bills and the water co. Says use 10,000 gallons a month.

I’ve checked and there’s no leaks.

Maybe she’s using the water……But I don’t think so.

I’m planning on installing another water meter about 24” past the current meter. Then compare the two.

We did several flow tests on the current meter and it’s accurate.

The city is getting the total gallons used through several wireless networks. We think the meter is accurate but it’s not getting uploaded or her account is assigned a different meter.

crazy **** man

We’ve seen this quite a bit. The newer Honeywell meters occasionally “go bad” this way. I think you’re right, it’s not the metering but the reporting that’s the problem.
An alternative to installing a second meter would be if some “terrible accident” happened to the existing meter. Then they’d have to come out and replace. I’m sure, like me, you’d hate for anything to cause damage to municipal property, but things happen. Vandals, delinquent kids, who knows. It’s a dangerous world out there

The only other thing I can think of is a leak in a pool line, so it only leaks when the pool filter runs, but you probably checked that. Or she doesn’t have a pool.

No pool, customer is responsible for all meter damage.

Hmm… that sucks. So if that meter were to be broken would she have to pay for replacement anyway?
If it doesn’t operate correctly then no but if it comes up missing or shows physical damage they’re on the hook.

Water main is only 18” deep and it’s 3/4” copper. I’ve bought meters off eBay before so I’mjust going to install another meter a couple feet after the city’s meter

I’m not one to get intimidated. It’s just not going to happen. And if the bullsh!t gets thick enough there’s legal recourse. There’s isn’t a city in a state that I have never not felt welcomed in by inspectors or permit offices. Btw, I didn’t score a 90 yesterday. Which really pisses me off.

I believe the test is open book now, correct ?

As far as intimidation, no you won’t be intimidated, you’ll just get ****ed with. But who cares ? I don’t, goodluck to you in Tuscaloosa, Mobile and Baldwin counties. I’m just giving you a friendly heads up.

One of the questions asked what was the minimum burial depth for soil or waste pipes. Through me for a loop. One of the answers was the depths for water piping highlighted at top of photo. “Number” or “number” was not an answer choice. 18” was one, 16” and 24”. I commented on that question and chose the 6” below frost line 12” minimum as it seemed to me whoever wrote that question didn’t continue reading the next section of the code. I’m really curious if I got that one wrong or not. And I guess I got the question about “what tool would you use to de-bur the inside of a steel pipe with. I chose reamer as that’s what I would use. But de-burrer was an answer selection. Maybe that was the correct answer?

It is open book, there were about 10 questions that were miss leading and I commented on because of the vagueness of the question, there was more than 1 right answer if the question more complete. I passed either way, not worth the time to request a formal review.

You’re suppose to pick the best answer. Minimums…….

right, being the water depth minimums as shown in the code and no minimums specified for sewer. I really am curious if that was marked incorrect. Unless that "Modern Plumbing" 8th edition book had some kind of stupid comments on it. There were quite a few answers i had to dig out of that book. they were easy to spot, not really code questions. But the question im curious about read more like a code question.

"What is the end to end length for a piece of 3" DWV copper when the offset is 18in"

that was one i couldnt answer. they didnt specify what angle or fitting. incomplete question. guessed at that one.
