Yeah and they’re the “ Pro “ model “ “ for professional installation only “

Yep, I’m a pro and I only use Pro wax seals.

Setting a bowl today with this PRO seal. Glad I have a few in stock, the custy asked for a PRO wax, not an amateur wax.

Here are the seat threads that are worn away in this old tub/shower valve.

It was 50 yrs old. My grandfather installed it a few months before he passed away.

I could’ve repaired it most likely but I felt like it had served long enough.

I’m going to keep it, I might restore it for sentimental reasons.

Soldered in shower riser, my father use to do it too. I’ve done it as well. They use to solder everything and try to make it hard for the homeowner or handy hack 🤣💪

Here’s a “ Bald Cypress “. It loves water. It loves water so much it can grow in the water. It can grow out of the water.

They’re great for business.

They’re kinda “ rooty “

These trees and with some of the highest rainfall amounts in the US, I see a lot of sink holes from roots breaking sewers or bad joints.
If you have a wet spot on your property you can plant one of these close by and it will soak up the water and no more wet spot

Will last forever
I installed some Gerber ceramic stems for a friend of mine and before that I was replacing washers every couple years.

It’s been 8 yrs since I’ve been back to that faucet. I ask her every now and then how it’s working. I removed the seats and installed the ceramic stems, the faucet was 25 yrs old.

The faucet pictured above, I did same thing, removed the compression stems and seats, installed Gerber factory ceramic stems from Supplyhouse.com. $46 a pair.

I do this all the time and the homeowner thinks I am a miracle worker. Apparently not many plumbers think of these things or care. Most newcon guys are too lazy/inexperienced/scared, they'll only change like for like parts.

That said if the faucet is eating washers there's a problem to be rectified. Sometimes the problem is too costly, no one wants a 1500$ neutralizer because of one faucet. If it's simply the water being too hot then turn it down or use gatorskin faucet washers. Rarely I will special order some Teflon or Nylon faucet washers.

Here is a mix of gator skin, wolverine brass and Teflon washers.
The problem was a 8 yr old turning the faucet off too tight and the housekeeper would also crank it.

You ever try fibre washers? They are similar to Micarta. Yes, some cheaper faucets the thread pitch is too fine allowing people to destroy the washers. I've certainly run into situations like you speak where people just expect it to need to be tightened or it will leak so even after you put new washers they keep cranking on it.

Yes, I’ve used them before. I still may have some in the shop box.

Things have changed for me, I don’t do 25% of the faucet repair I use to do innthe 80’s and 90’s.

Two reasons.

I shifted my target area away from older homes.

There’s been a lot of renovation and the old was replaced with new faucets.

I knew you would end up doing that, you can put all new parts in kohlar crap and it will still leak
The Kohler rough valve was roughed in 3/4” too shallow. The trim simply wouldn’t install like it was intended. Someone stuck the trim plate to the wall with silicone.

Since correcting the rough in would require cutting the wall, I replaced it because all the other faucets in the house are Delta and I carry parts for Delta.

The Delta RP10000 rough valve allows me to change how the faucet operates with three different cartridges and trim. It’s a great system.

I actually talked to the customer yesterday, He green lighted me on replacing the lavatory faucet at first opportunity so it all matches. I’ll get pics when I go back.

I want to say thank you to all the users of propress.

I can buy copper fittings so cheap because no one wants them.

I started charging propress fitting prices for my regular copper when I bill.

I just bought 100 1/2” slip couplings for .25 each.

Thank you !!!!! Terry Loves you !!!!!
