Thin wall installation plate shower faucet - prevent removing retaining ring

You
I have a Moen, single handle showered faucet. It is a thin wall installation. The retaining plate is preventing me from removing the retaining ring so I can replace the cartridge.

The thin wall install plate cannot be pushed back Any ideas on how I can access the retaining pin?

Appreciate anyone's help on this.

You will just have to learn to live with the drip or remove entire faucet

Be sure to turn the breaker off before you take it apart. Safety first.

You really should find a new master. Your current one is failing you.

I remember when they had the white plastic mud guard. Then they were black for a while. Now they're green. I wonder what color theyll be next. Grey. That's it. I believe they will be grey. Change my mind.

Install a boiler drain on the house side of the meter, drain the house down, spray in some fix-a-flat and re-pressurize immediately. This will fix all leaks in moments.👹

No sir. I assure you moen switched at some point to black and it stayed black for quite a while. And now they’re green.

but to the OP, I can get that clip out as is, and hope to bell I don’t drop it in the process.
Anyone ever come across one with the HO put a pipe wrench on the valve body (cartridge housing) and bend and twist the ever loving sh!t out of it? I have. I had no words.

I’ve seen a few chewed up cartridges/stems, where the homeowner didn’t know about the “pin”… heheh.
