My son and daughter-law just purchased a camper. They want to change the old regular thermostat to a digital one. Don'yt need 7 day settings. Do
they have to use a thermostat that is 12 volt only. I have a couple digital stat's for a in house furnace which are 24 volt. I don't think there is any
way to make one of these work for them. Does anybody here know. Thanks.....

Just use an old mercury thermostat, they are indestructible and should work with 12v just as well as the 32v they are rated for.

I do have a brand new mercury stat that I have been hanging onto for ages. Never out of the box.

A digital thermostat will run off of batteries (usually aaa) regardless of the voltage.
