I was delivered all books in the past 3 days, and what is evident is the slow death of information trading in book form.


Number of pages in the book for plumbers, in the smaller ones? Less than 3 pages. !!!

In the bigger book, if you minus out the full page ads? Less than 5.


It's been a beauty, to find out today that the phone company for some reason, and I'm sure it was intentional, omitted my name in the county I reside in, home base...but made sure I was in the other 2 counties.


Oh really?

Be carefully that is how they got us. They messed up by putting the wrong phone number in our ad. My father negotiated with them free ads for all of 2005. They had him sign the contract with the amounts for each ad written as a zero. Then my father was informed that they did not distribute the 2005 books so he canceled all his 2006 ads and asked for a free listing.

In 2010 they take us to court saying we never paid for 2004, 2005 and 2006 ads. Now they made up a whole new category and we are the only one listed in it its called "Pumping Contractors" They just want to get my dad all rallied up again and try to do the same crap they did to us in 2005.

The internet is working very well for us. Just last week I picked up 2 new commercial accounts and a dozen home owners from our internet presence. Everyone of them said they do not even bother looking at the yellow pages anymore.

YP has sucked this year! Last year it accounted for about 50% of my calls not this year 95% referral's 5% YP
Down sizing YP big time I'm not going to dump them completely still need something in there but small.

We did not pay 04 due to the misprint, 05 was supposed to free but after my old man signed the contract they scratched of the zero amounts and wrote in prices. There are no initials at the scratched out part of the contract prices making it a spoiled contract. We have a letter of confirmation from them saying we canceled our ads in 06. So now they took us to court, but since my father refused to higher a corporate lawyer the judge found in the Yellow Pages favor. The judge even told my old man the only reason we lost was cause he would not get a lawyer.

They froze one of our bank accounts already in atempt to get the 26K they where awarded in the judgement.

He is working on an appeal, The case was clear cut fraud on the YP part. Also Corporate law states that an officer can represent the corporation if he owns more than 50% and its not publicly traded.

Sorry to hear about this misfortune of yours and your dad's. Sounds like the judge was biased to say the least. At worst, corrupt. Thank goodness we have an appeals process in this nation. I am defintely no lawyer, but how in the world can a judge make the statement that you guys lost solely because you represented yourlelf? That is Bull. If he were fair and impartial, from what you state, he should've ruled in your favor. This is a civil suit right? If the law allows you to have a jury trial, then DO NOT waive your right to a trial by a jury. :thumbsup:
