Getting past 50-60 years old you really have to start enjoying life and to things you always wanted to do otherwise you will miss out. For the last 3 years I've been doing things I really enjoy like road trips to villages on the week end and going towards goals that for most people it is not sane and throwing money away. You only have one chance to live like you want.
I'm older than that, but feel no need to retire. I'm making good money with a decent reputation and enjoy my main hobby: business.
Never met Terry and saw his website once. If there's a way to make money from slackin', Washington state will do it.....

Terry made real good money off his web site and was not even trying to optimize it .
I dont fault him for that at all... the only people that would are just jealous that he thought of it first
way back in 2003 or so.........lol..

I am doing about the same as you , just hand picking the work and passing on the dog shi/ calls.....
did a 55 electric heater and a 50 electric today ... We make more money than many make in a month so
it is real hard to pass this stuff up, and what else can you do in the wintertime anyway??

My reputation seems to be pretty good around here too...
My wife was looking on the internet and just stumbled on an article with me being
mentioned in the 10 best plumbers in town review and I did not even know about it... A couple of the other people
mentioned in the add as the best 10 plumbers I know were very questionable...

.Free advertiseing is always the best kind.....
.

Yep. It'd be insane to hang up the wrenches when I'm making this much money doing something that I find almost boring. To break up the monotony, I'm growing the business just for kicks. No risk, really, as everything is paid off: no mortgages or anything.

Not to forget that people love plumbers with 45 years of experience.....

....Today , I would probably end up in jail for killing the next idiot...

I started doing plumbing when I was a kid in 1964, so does that mean I have
59 years plumbing experience?? Or does it start when you get your liscense??
The experience starts when you're first sent out to the truck for parts. The first plumbing truck I drove was a 1964 Dodge picking up parts and taking them to the site. You had to block the wheels or it would roll away.

I don't mind the idiots much. Most are more worried about me than I'm concerned about them. Hard to find idiots, though.

Idiots seem to be everywhere and are not hard to find imo..
but they certainly like to answer plumbing ads more often than not...

Maybe its the hard drugs that turn them nasty, or melt their minds..... and they need someone to blame
for all the stupid choices they made in life to get them to where they are at now....

The idiots I am talking about are the spastic ones that show up many years down
the road foaming at the mouth trying to shake you down for something that they think
that they are owed.... --- not ones that just got laid off or fired last month...

I could tell some good stories but we all have them and they probably should be in the
business lounge...

I guess if it dont kill you it only makes you a stronger alpha male....
I was gifted a huge coffee mug by the Red and Gold motorcycle club that reads (in red and gold colors, of course): "There's sharks and minnows in this world. If you don't know which you are then you ain't a shark."
I guarantee I ain't a minnow.....

I would rather let them guess what kind of fish I am ...
maybe a snapper or tuna...an Orchha, who knows......
just keep them guessing.........

You realize that They always want to test the ones that
think they are sharks,,,... and if you got to go around
trying to prove it to everyone, their is always someone ready and
willing to take you up on it....
Such is life, innit.
After I got my Journeyman Card--like the same day--I knew I'd be self-employed. I was never comfortable letting someone else determine my future. I never regretted my choice.
