I know right ! And those countertops are horrible !
Hahah..

It’s like this pic of a “Plummer” fixing a sink.
All the wrong tools and materials. Why is there a LT/bar sink faucet? Hot and cold Laundry hoses? a 1” threaded gate valve? clipboard and a RED pen? Everything is brand new and clean.

I concur newcon sucks big time over here, in a nutshell companies cheat their employees, get paid less, force them to supply electric tool, trucks, trailers, generators(illegal), digging trenches in clay sucks, almost got a heart attack the clay so sticky you'd have to hit the shovel onto the foundation several times before you got rid of your first scoop, 12000 scoops to go!

Oh by the way GC may not even pay and hope you go bankrupt and they make all the money.
We got a company in town that does fire and water restoration....
They tried to get me to work for them long ago but I would not take the bait....

It turns out they play this game with young pups where they always take a lowest bid
from some up-start full knowing full well that they cant do the work for that cheap...
They let the guy demo everything, work his ass off and then string him out for
30-60 days to get paid... all the while hoping that he goes belly up and floats away....

His truck breaks down, and something bad happens to his shoe-string budget
or worse yet they just throw him off the job because of poor workmanship and keep the
money and have the next sucker come in and finish the project....

you ALWAYS have to watch out for the SCREAMERS who expect you to send
a crew out to the job site at the drop of a hat just to tighten a bolt..... they always have
a cash flow problem when the work is completed

I'm really happy a lot of new companies and probably older ones too that go for it, it leaves room for me as a ghost on the service side.

On occasion I get people calling me they had water damage and their insurance want an estimate and cause. This is like a pact with the devil if you ask me, how are you supposed to give an estimate without getting your tools out, cutting walls, pulling a toilet or some such thing when there's no evident leak? Then will they demand a free estimate? After that if you do any kind of inspection which I learned recently you need extra insurance called "errors and omission" because they can sue you if you missed something or you were wrong in your diagnosis. They can also sue you years down the road if you wrote the plumbing inspected was fine but leaks later on, they'll hand you the bill.

So many BS laws.

Give them an estimate to tear out the walls and floors to look for a possible leak or leaks. Once you locate the problem/problems give another price to make the repairs.

That is some crappy luck about losing the company’s name. Birmingham Plumbing is a pretty descent sized company- 20 guys. In a high end city with a lot of homeowners that will probably hire them based solely on their name

How about Bloomfield Plumbing?! Kinda play off their strategy. Bloomfield Hills is another high end community that borders Birmingham.

Sounds like you might live a bit farther north though.

A TON of remodeling going on in these areas.
I’ve had about 5-7 pretty good years doing remodel, and high end custom new builds for builders that pay in these 2 communities

Dont forget about proper pronouns. Make it a point to ask before hand when engaging with a new client. Also, there are a lot of terms we're no longer allowed to say. An example of this would be "Master bathroom". Well, you just cant say that anymore. The proper term is "Primary Bathroom". I dont want you hurting anyones feelings.

Piss on anyone who acts offended cause you did not use the proper pronouns for the bathrooms.......
that is a sign of much deeper issues that will probably be causing you misery and
grief a short while down the road..... Stay away from people like that

took who led us to our table for the show then took our drink orders
I said thank you Ma'am .....

My wife just about had a fit and told me not to use that word with anyone any more
because you might offend them or they might be trannys... I looked at her like she
was friggin nuts..... Even getting crap from my wife about this woke stupidity ......
I called the lady ma'am the rest of the night ...piss on both of them if they cant let it
slide off their backs....
