how is everyone? my name is mike parker II and as i stated i'm from c.c. mass. I'm a master plumber and have been self employeed for more than 4 1/2 years(sometimes good and sometimes bad). I graduated from a tech H.S. in 94 and got my first job working for a mom & pop type company and i worked there for a little over two years, which was GREAT but misleading. that company got really slow and they had to lay-off everyone but one service guy. I had just started a family and I'm not the type to sit idle for to long so i went and got another job (reality time) to finish my apprenticeship. even though i only needed another year (at that time) to get my journeymans lic. I felt I needed to obtain more knowledge to hold that tittle so I waited an additional two years which I dont regret. A year after that I got my masters. It's kind of funny but out of a class of 18 that graduated from the plumbing shop only me and one other actually still are in the trade. Its amazing how plumbing can weed out the weak! I worked for a few other companys giving each one all that I had and the some but never getting compensated for all the late nights, saturdays and to many sundays. so i decided why not do it for myself, and the rest is history. I gotta say that im soooo glad to have stumbled onto this website, its nice to have an outlet to vent about all the trials and tribulations of not only owning your own buisness but just being a plumber. I do have family thats in the trade but they live in the same town so basically their competion so I feel awkward asking buisness tips. Once I found this webstite I've been non stop reading all the post (good thing i read long enough to be warned of the ban hampster that attacks the non intro plumbers:rolleyes: I like to think of myself as a well rounded plumber doing pretty much any and all aspects of the trade from new consruction to to remodels, hvac, wells etc.. trying to add water purification and irrigation to my resume. well I think thats enough for now, if I've left anything out i'm sure you'll let me know.:whistling2: I look forward to sharing anything I can to to this website and let me say thank you all now for any info or advice that you may share.

Welcome proplumb !!! I'm in W. Mass now but got my start on the cape in the early mid 90's. Started plumbing school there with ''Mr. faucetman" in Hyannis. Worked for my bro in law for 3 years out of brewster. As your finding out this is a great site with a ton of useful info.
