I got a call this evening from a guy that owns a small subdivision (about 30 houses) He doesn't have any idea how his sewer system is run. He want me to come in and camera the main all the way to the lagoon and each house so i can locate where they all tie in. I don't have all the details yet. I am going to meet him tomorrow evening to go over the job with him. Any Idea how I should bid this. I thought about 150.00 dollars per house and 800.00 dollars for the main. And then maybe 500 dollars to draw out the plan for him. let me know what you think. this is just a ball park will know more about the job tomorrow.

We do a lot of proposals like this: T&M not to exceed $XXX. We will figure a worst case scenario, and put a dollar amount on it and that's it. We do a lot of jobs that come in a day under budget, for 2 guys, that's about 1500 bucks, including a truck on site. So if you tell somebody $10,000, and come in at $8,500, everybody wins.

What do you normally charge for a sewer inspection?

If you normally charge $250 maybe a small multiple discount of $225 each if under a 100ft $100 per location Will you be making a DVD copy for each house?
Location on each lateral? Are they all easy access, outside clean outs? How long is each sewer lateral detailed info on each DVD. You should get a good amount of money for this one.

Don't short yourself. I have my fingers crossed for you. Blue prints and a DVD record for each house and sewer. Plus factor in risk on damage on your camera getting it stuck. T&M on blue prints.

I hear you when its mostly labor. Bidding is a pain someone will always under bid. If you have a loan on the camera maybe you can make enough to pay it off of a nice upgrade. Or some other equipment you may need. I alway think of that. Hope you get it.

I did a mobile home park just like this and we went t/m I put my regular cameraman on it and 1 laborer and went with a 1/2 rate for the laborer. I picked up the laborer from the local labor connection and had them do all the mapping while doing the job. It worked out well and I did not have to lose 2 guys to a long job.
