Ladder lean

I never knew this, when you lean a ladder against a wall to get it out of the way, I always thought you needed to lean it at an angle so it wouldn't fall back. Nope, straight flush. It might be common knowledge and I'm not that bright.

I’ve climbed a ladder in this position to get though a small ceiling tile. I’m also not that bright.

if I tried to stand a ladder like that ,
the ladder would wait untill I left the room and then fall backwards
and either take out a picture or maybe a mirror on the opposite wall
at the very least make a good nasty dent in the drywall
