Isuzu trucks banned in California!

As of 01/2023, Isuzu trucks are banned on California roads!

I was at the Benz dealership last night and the salesman told me about a California landscaper sending five workers up to Washington state (my home) to pick up five cutaways because he can't run his 20 Isuzus on any road in California. He's scrambling to find replacement trucks.

I can't find a box truck here that's worth anything here and the Sprinters are 100% overpriced. I've got journeyman signing on in two weeks and I ain't got a truck for the man.

It is California's fault.

Sounds like a voting problem rather than a truck problem in Cali.

Unfortunately your neighbor is causing you problems. Good luck ✌

You got troubles....
Look on Facebook market place and on occasion a decent box truck
comes up for sale within 300 miles of you.... You got to be like a hawk
and watch for a rare jem to come up once in a few months that is worth
the troubles. and pounce on it fast.
... I got my last truck from that site and something similar
popped up again back in august that I should have bought but did not need it....

My guy who does my crane service has to get rid of his crane because of the new law. They’re a small family owned sign company and not sure if they can buy another one. People in Nevada and Arizona will buy it because apparently it doesn’t cause cancer in those states.

Why Isuzu trucks in particular? The gas models have the same engine as Chevy trucks and vans. And I know I've seen a few diesel Isuzus stamped "CA Certified Clean Idle."

Because like ball valves labeled "lead free" they aren't lead free enough anymore. The laws changed.

I checked FB Market and there is Nothing for me within the 500 mile option. Troubles, indeed.....
I'm probably pulling the trigger on a 2020 Ford Transit tomorrow for $44k with 50k miles. It's been on their lot for almost a year with a $4k drop in price, so I might get it for $40k. Big whoop.
Can you provide a citation for this?

There’s nothing that specifically mentions Isuzu that I’ve been able to find.

There’s a lot of rules to be sure. And there’s also a lot of grant money. And there’s a lot of sob stories to a political end.

Grant money. Read up on it. The state just re-powered two boom lifts for us; both with tier four engines.

Just keep a close eye on that Face Bok site and one will pop up ever so often,,, you got to look
at it like making it into a morning habit to find one...

No wonder plumbers have to charge so much for service....

I regret not buying the 14 foot 1999 ford box truck I saw last fall for 10k.. it only had 48,000
miles on it and was kept in a garage its whole life... Still would have to throw a lift gate on it
for another 6k.

Maybe I guess I am a tight ass, but someday soon I will be gone so I cant see throwing 50 k
into a truck

This one I saw today is not too bad but its just too far away for you
See less See more
So I should fly out to Cali and buy a cheap Isuzu truck to drive home. Thats what this thread is telling Me.

Plus I might find a Spanish girlfriend while I’m out there. Sounds good……

@ROCKSTARPLUMBER Let’s go buy trucks and Spanish girlfriends in Cali. If they cook and clean out wives might let us keep them……..the girls not the trucks 👊

I'll be gone soon, too, but I figure I may as well go in comfort.

The new tech in the new trucks are way good. The cameras, warning signals, wi-fi, 10 speed turbo v-6, 12" screen...

California is really gonna stick it in its own ass with this stupidity...
and I suppose if you like diesel trucks you could probably get yourself a sweet deal...

I have 3 used older trucks at this time and I am not gonna cater to some employee who
might only be with me for a short while trashing my new truck out for me.....I have had
that happen before to me long ago....

I looked at a new 14 foot GMC with a side door and lift gate and it was gonna cost
about 85k by the time you paid taxes and outfitting
the truck...... never went further than that but I wonder
what the payment would have been for 5 years??

Sometimes I wonder what the payment is on a brand new truck at this time
and what would happen if their was no one in good enough health to pay the bills??

I literally spent the weekend driving around Western Washington looking for a good deal. The best I could find was a 2007 BMW z2. Test drove it to 100mph @ 27000rpm. Awesome machine, but couldn't fit a tool bag in it, much less a ton of equipment.
There are zero new ones out there. No used box trucks; only small vans or junker Sprinters.
I think I'll buy a $15k junker street van for him until I can work it out.
