Rich customer or not always a moen. Why any other brands there's no parts really. No wants to pay me to take it apart, take pics, pay me to research, order the parts and go back to install it while the faucet is leaking and ruining the counter top or whatever.

If they'd pay I would make a tone of money!

Kohler will overnight parts, Hans Grohe will do the same but even better is their us headquarters are right up the street from me.

Plus we have a very stupid law, we are responsible for customer supplied faucets or any other materials. Yes you heard right! We have to prove to a court of law the faucet is not prone to fail, I'm not an engineer or a lab! Since I learned of that I tell them to buy Moen and if they buy something else I may refuse to install it and charge them for the service call.

You know those delta with pex tubes, well those are on the black list automatically and so are all the house brands of big box stores.

Still people won't pay me to go twice and do research. No such thing as overnight in Canada, it's 2-3 weeks unless it a brand made in my province then it takes 3-5 days.

If you install it than you shouldn't need an exploratory call to determine the cartridge it takes.

We keep a record of what fixtures, faucets, shower valves, furnaces, boilers, etc. we install at each customer's house. This way if they call with a leaking faucet or a burner that won't run we know what parts to bring.

Some of our customers are an hour away, when a guy is on call he doesn't want to have to making multiple trips for a no heat call. When a customer buys a 1000$ faucet from us they expect us to know what it is and have the parts.

That makes sense but people who call me with unknown faucets I wasn't the one who installed it in the first place.

Second if I were to install a fancy faucet and in 5 years he calls to replace parts, similar problem, the faucet is dripping on the counter and still have to order and wait 2 weeks. I'm not going to start buying all these fancy 1 of 1 faucet parts to hopefully need them in the future.

Occasionally we refuse to install customer supplied faucets if they are garbage.

I make a point to mention to customers that if they pick a Haute Couture brand it may take longer to get parts. Just like buying a foreign car, the parts cost more and must be shipped from a different country. But that's one of the costs of luxury.

When someone calls with a no name faucet I give them the choice a new faucet or 2 service calls plus runaround and zero guarantee it'll fix the problem. All of them choose to purchase one. Except a lot of delta don't have their name on it but I have some parts.
