Same here you type clogged drain anything in NH and I'm in top slot in most and its not doing Nuttin. Most is still phone books and those are slow too. Mostly old people here some serious old school, technology is the devil kinda old people. Web is the future When? Have had web site now for 4 years maybe 3 calls  Made like $600 bucks of those calls and web service is $15 bucks a month can't complain much but I am disappointed at volume of calls in years.

I have to say about 70% of our calls are from the internet. We do get a lot of maintains companies with the "Do Not Exceed" paper work. Also I say out of that 70% about 30% of that is industrial and commercial work.

I stay away from the pay per click or sponsored ads, they are a waste of money. Just make an informative website, and make sure it is optimized for search engines and you will get plenty of hits.

All the calls I got from web were maintenance companies to.
Pay by click big waste of money never tried it never will.
"Just say NO to pay per click"
I do get 4000 plus hits per month but there from all over world. None from New Hampshire companies or home owners they still use phone books.

It does not matter what we think. You have to look at it this way. How are your sale's and bottom line doing? can you take the chance on losing the extra $95.00 a month. If your doing good try it. If your sales every month are up and down might not be a good idea. But being in business is a risk you have to take risks.

I just think I'm going to be a little more careful on how to spend money because no one is really spending now. If you do go for it I hope it works for you. Web here has done nothing really. Would have been happier with better results I was hoping for at the least 10 per year sad but I believe it's because of my location. Good luck :)

You can find someone cheaper to help build you a website. I get about 5 or 6 calls a day with companies that offer the same thing to me. I explain to them I manage my own site. Then they hit me with the but we can get you listed in the best spot on the top search engines. Its just them trying to sell their services to you.

With anything I would research the company that made you that offer and shop around a bit more. Make sure who you are dealing with is a reputable company. Oh and do not fall for their empty promises of getting you top position on search engines. Another way is to check with your local community collage for kids that are getting into web design, and hire one of them to build you a site.

Lots of people do web design many don't have your best intrest in mind only your money. Lots of collage kids with comuter skills proably need a few bucks too. Bet they could do a better job

$95.00 a month is a rip off. Have someone build a site for you and then have someone host it for next to nothing. I had a website, never got a call from it. I dropped it, no longer want anything to do with a website. The only thing I got from it were people emailing me telling me how ugly I am!

I get few calls here and there from mine. Mostly out of town property owners and managers who don't have a local phone book, not my most liked type of customer. I cancelled my web site thru AT&T that came with SEO. Hundreds of $ per month and wasn't even paying for it's self. I'm going to pay some one cash to build it my way and just optimize for the natural listings in the search engines. Web isn't that good.

Thats what I did.

The students used it as a school project, and after they built the site and I approved the final design, they activated it.

They came back the next semester and tweaked it as they learned more about web design.

No cost to me, accept for the web site.

I get more hits than that at my blog, which is the link in my sig, and I have done nothing to optimize it for search.

I been getting 600 to 1800 hits a day on my website, and it is a natural positioning in the search engines. I do not use the pay per click stuff at all and I do not pay anyone to "optimize" my site. I was talking to a collage friend of mine, he agreed finding some one at a collage to make the site also benefits the collage student since he can use your site he built in his portfolio.

The thing is with Websites is you will get a younger or a more computer savoy crowd using the internet to find a plumber where as the less internet savoy crowd still uses phone books or other means of finding their plumbers. The biggest disadvantage I see getting calls from the internet is you will get more price shoppers. I just had a guy that told me I was to expansive on the price of my battery back up system. He said he could get it for a few hundred cheaper on the internet. I told him go ahead, and when he gets it I will be happy to install it for him with no warranty on my end. What he failed to realize was how long it takes to get it, and the cost of shipping since them batteries are not very light. If he wants it now I can sell him the system if he wants to wait a week or two he can buy it on the net.

You have to look at the Internet and a website as another form of marketing and how you can link it all together. When we designed the site we were only interested in being on the forefront of the new technology, if we recieve work from it that was great, but it was mainly designed to complement our other forms of marketing.

We have been on the web since 1996, which is probably before a lot of ya'll even thought about plumbing as a life long career or even heard of the internet.

If you do a website keep the information fresh and up to date. Drive the clients to the website with your other marketing material and keep them out of the phone book as much as possible. We are virtually out of hte phone book and have been for the last 2 years. We went from full page ads to an inline bold listing only in the book and top tier listing on directory website. IMHO the yellow page designed website all look a like and not worth the money spent on them.

Make sure that you are listed as the contact and administrator with the domain registar and have complete control over the website.

One final note THIS IS THE LOOK OF THE FUTURE if you don't have a web presence you will eventually get left behind.
