I'm hoping to start a small drain cleaning company to give to my sons one day. Currently have 50' x 1/2" general wire drum machine, jk1750 jetter that needs new hose, 25' x 1/4" drill machine, closet augers, bladders ect. I can rent larger drum machines locally when needed. Any advice or suggestions for a newbie is greatly appreciated.

Hello Dan what did you do before this? Did you do new construction or service work?

How long have you been in the trade? Do you know the correct applications for those machines you own? Why get a mini jetter before some other more immediately useful tools? Have you found a company willing to insure you for just drain cleaning? Are you willing to JUST do drain cleaning? You ready to partner with family? Working with family sucks. If you go into business with a friend you can tell them where to go and be done with it if you absolutely have to but if you have to fire your family it gets messy (when I was young I watched my dad fire his dad and brother sometimes it's necessary to fire. Take a step back and really think is this what you want to do? It's stressful man. I started 6 months ago. Stay away from Home warranty companies. Don't do anything you're not licensed and insured to do. For gods sake don't get hurt or sick.
