Is there anyone that has lived or lives in a country with universal health care. Most people in the US talk so bad about it, I would like to hear from someone that has had medical care in a system like that. I found that when I had insurance it did not cover a lot of things and the price for the insurance went up and up until I couldn't really affford it. I would also like to know what taxes are like in a country that provides health care. My income tax and social security together equal about 37%.

I recently read a poster on a forum who lives in Germany, originally from Australia. He says that the German system is best, superior to France or Britain's.

The Germans, I believe, have kept strong unions and have decent pay scales.

Here in the U.S., hospitals were not always privately-owned. But the trend is to privatize everything, so that you can now be turned away. Your mileage may vary.

When I lived up in Bonner's Ferry, ID, about 20 miles from the Canadian border, people would go across the border to have babies and it was only about $50. I don't know what the legality was at the time, which was about 35 years ago.

Its a good deal Comrad

The people you want to ask are those that use it, and not the dead beats that don't fund it either, ask those that actually PAY for the system, small business owner cannot afford the tax burden.

I used to do an internet fly game back a few years ago (10) and talked with a guy in Eastern Canada that had a cabinet shop, his tax burden was 50% and the quality of the health care was not so good. They want to shove this health care down our throats to rob the Social Security coffers.

I had Union insurance a few years ago also, some of the best there is, but ask the owner of a Union shop what his obligations to the Health and Welfare program per Plumber is...

Socialisim will be the downfall of this country, education wise is where it will hurt the worst. By the 10th grade you will be given an option based upon your grades, vocation or higher education with no chance to elevate your status once the die is cast. There will be only 2 classes of people then " the rich and those that work for them " there will be no such thing as an independant contractor, you will work for the state at the rate they impose upon you.

I'm from Canada, we have socialized health care, and I have yet to meet someone who has gone bankrupt from health care expenses.

You?

I hope this isnt misinterpreted. I dont have a mission on the topic. When I lived in Chicago I just accepted the cold and the snow. Not until living in Florida did I realize how nice it is to have good weather. When I was in Europe the last couple of times I talked to the people. A french lady who worked as well as her husband had 80+ %( or whatever the high number is) taxes and still liked the 6 week vacations and the health benefits-which I think she just accepts as the staus quo. They dont have a media stirring up as much victim politics or litigation after litigation -you are sort of responsible for yourself. When I saw the bad cobblestone walkways my 1st thought was someone could get sued. But my impression and from what Ive heard this countrys (USA)health system is far superior and for socialized medical to work a lot of people are going to have to accept they are not going to get what they want. The lawyers and insurance companies have screwed it up quite a bit. Government control with the caliber of the present day politician is not healthy (pun intended)

Oh they are there....perhaps some of them are American?
I am sure they are, but to what extent...

Lets look at the numbers shall we,

U.S. 300 million + or - several thousand, U.S. Illegal aliens official count 12 million, actual estimates 20 million +, thats 7% of the total population that does not or never has contributed to any form of taxes. That does not take into account the number of people that reside here that depend on Govt. assistance to live, we are at about 49% overall. We are at the breaking point, when more that 50% of the population requires a handout we are toast because less cannot carry more.

Canada 33.5 million + or - several thousand
Canada, Illegal aliens thousands, hundred thousand , maybe half a percent ?

And as far as no company going bankrupt yet...

I live in Canada, and i love our socialized health care.

And I too have never heard of anyone going bankrupt paying for medical expenses. But have heard numerous stories of americans. I won't even cross the border for a second without health insurance.

Ill give it a shot at a reel in--I didnt hear the show myself but heard that on Hannity they had stats on significant higher quality medical in the US in successful ops, treatments and preventative care. If the lawyers and insurance companies cant ruin something, give the government a shot. C'mon Obama-c'mon media: shoot yourself in the foot and make it harder to heal.
