Due to our exposure, many plumbers have strong immune systems and they know it.
In spite of this, I think plumbers for the most party have a good understanding and healthy respect for the germ theory of disease and take precautions (eg., gloves, soap and water).

My experience is much different. I still get laughed at sometimes for using gloves, disinfectant and hand sanitizer. I know guys who think it's funny to do things bare handed and gross people out, like ignorant teenagers who think they know it all. They go by the idea that since they have never gotten seriously sick, they never will. I will spray down the steering wheel of a vehicle that I have to drive, other than my regular van, especially the drain cleaners, much to their amazement.

if and not too often, if someone tries to make a comment about wearing nitrile/latex gloves I just tell them " its a dirty slimy stinky orifice not unlike your wife or girlfriend, so you need to bag up" that usually sends them away or they get pissed and say something threatening.....either way they can go fk themselves..

my dentist has used gloves and mask that covers both mouth and eyes for over a decade or so, as long as I remember back to my 20s , whenever I went for a cleaning or dental work all the employees that touched a patient wore PPE..

My long time dentist just retired. I've known him since junior high school.
He suited up just like your dentist.
A decade isn't such a long time. Try going back 30-40 years or more.

i never wash my hands. gloves are for wimps. i build up my immune system by dipping asbestos in mustard and eating it for every meal.

3 rules of plumbing have changed rolls down hill, payday friday, bite finger nails cuz it builds imunity. not the way I was taught we used to think biting nails was bad.
