Don't franchise or to franchise?
I would never franchise. Why? There is Nothing wrong with it.
But If you want to start your own business. That is exactly what it is your own business, Your thoughts your creativity you control what you buy and buy from. Franchise in my respects takes away your creativity. Even if your great at what you do you still carry the franchise's baggage Bad press history of complaints even if someone had bad service say in Mass by what ever franchise you use and the talk to friend's, relatives in say Florida and the had a bad experience with that company name you may already have lost that sale. You will never know. With Your company your reputation and good name no baggage unless you made a bad name for yourself. No franchise no history baggage that comes with their franchise name. you get to create your history your master piece. It's like art you painted the picture why let someone else put their name on it...It's up to you I would never.

You can get most or all the same training through outside sources and save BIG $. Then keep the money you made.
Do I regret franchising?...yes on the personal finances but with the education, no.
Would I do it again with what I know now, absolutley not. Franchisors need to know when they hire someone as a BC, they need to have the experience of a company owner or GM, not college book smart and recommend for you to do what other big frans are doing, cuz it may work for them. People live in different areas and the people are different (rural vs city).
My biggest complaint of my experience is or was my BC. She knew only what others have done, not TRUE experience. After complaining alot about her, we got a awesome BC but we done made our mind up to get out. He owned a franchise with 12 trucks and was doing great and then sold it. He had good stuff to throw on the table. When we told him everything she wanted and told us to do and told us not to do, you could tell he was upset at it. Though he would not say anything discriminating, in the position he was in, you could read he reactions.
I will stop here, which there is a ton more. Open forum may not be the right way to handle all my experiences. I could see the ex fran, coming down on us.
If you want to know more call me.
If you are thinking about becoming a franchise don't. They are REALLY out for themselves. Take your money and give you nothing in return. I have a sucker sticker on my forhead.
