Do you do your own firestopping or hire a Life Safety contractor?
We used to do our own but have subcontracted the fire stopping out in recent years, unless there only a few penetrations.

We just started doing our own. Pretty basic stuff, Hilti will come to your site and give you assemblys for every type of penetration you have.

Fire Caulk is very very expensive stuff, and a joke I think. We have had this law inforced hard here in North Dakota. We had to fire caulk everything, closet collars ever single pipe penetration and also our floor drains. This ran about $1000 in caulk we did not expect. It is kind of a joke. We ran cast iron floor drain, what is the need for caulk on this? Wood floors, gees the fire will burn the floor first.
