I heard the Lord looks out for idiots.🤣
I know a guy who cut into an "empty" 80gal. Propane tank with a demo saw. Got a few 3rd degree burns and his face got a bit messed up. He got real lucky, didn't need plastic surgery and I don't think any skin grafts. Even only a year or two later you wouldn't know it happened looking at him.

Wellll,my bid for the water heater job was 109,700.00 and I was highest bidder out of 3 total, the lowest and winning bid was $61,100.00 and second bid was $89,900.00 and I was last, all of my material including electrical materials was $35,000.00 before markup,it may just be me but this low guy is not gonna make much at all imo,in fact I could make more in service calls in the 3-4weeks it’s gonna take to do the job than he will make clear money

They’ll pay a couple guys $25 an hour to do all 50 and it’ll take them a few weeks and the guy at the office will make a nice check and keep his guys busy.

That’s why I don’t bid those type jobs, I don’t have two guys to send.

You want to send 2 guys, and make the top bid. That's when it's really nice.

Out of the 61,100.00 there is a performance bond that will cost him over 3000.00,the plumbing permit will be 1450.00,material is 35,000.00, the paperwork and payroll sheets on a job like this is worth 1000.00, disposing of 43 old heaters is worth 1000.00, to rent a conex Trailor for a month is 1000.00,he has to pay employees federal prevailing wages,I just Dont see it

The winning bidder may not have your expenses or they may be less expensive.

For example, he may not rent a conex and he might sell the old heaters or give them to a scrapper.

He may be local.

He may get his materials cheaper.

He may have a daughter or wife todo the paperwork at no out of pocket expense.

Maybe he will pay the minimum required to his workers. maybe he will cheat……

Maybe he’s starving……

Maybe he will lose his ass…..maybe he won’t.

Everyone’s situation is a little different.

Sparky it may be a blessing in disguise that you didn't get it. My boss stayed away from all prevailing wage jobs. To many things go wrong he always said. How many
water heaters have you done where you hook the hose and nothing drains. You can't just pull the drain valve and let fly. Things like that can hurt you money wise.
