Electric hot water heater conundrum

1921 Views 19 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  skoronesa
have an electric, 4500 w hot water heater. suddenly no hot water. Have performed all the following and still no hot water. any ideas on what I am missing? Not much left I can think of.
1. Started with reset.
2. replaced upper Thermostat
3. replaced both elements ( and cleaned out inside of tank)
4. Tested continuity on everything (all pass)
5. tested voltage at every point (all pass)

Can't think of anything else to test or replace.

Thanks for the help. Great site. No need to be a jerk. Might want to make it more upfront that only LICENSED professionals can join. or better yet, don't allow anyone to join without a license number. Then you would not have people like me wasting my time and yours. Have a happy new year all. Wishing you all prosperity and peace. I will find someone who is decent and willing to help. Obviously it just won't be here.

This forum is for " Professional Plumbers Only",,,,
If you are a professional plumber start by going to "New Member Introductions" and post a proper introduction to show this community that you are a "Professional".
If not then run now and don't look back!
This is not the place to come to for free advice for DIY'ers.

there are multiple spots that say professionals only, there use to be a big red banner stating so, but when the site was done over they took it down..not at the members agreement....there are plenty of DIY site for you to get info from, and you have gotten away easy from what most get their balls broken for posting here...
there are lots of people that fake being plumbers that try to get free info..and they get their balls handed to them....if you replaced all that stuff and no hot water you are above your head to fix it, so just replace it..you probably spent more on parts than what a new heater would cost or close to it..
ps heres a gift for the new year..did you check the circuit breaker..............

He said that he tested voltage and it passed so I have to assume that the breaker is on...
I don't want to help a DIY'er but I am curious about this particular issue if he did everything correctly as he said he did.

Thank you. Not pretending to be anything. I posted here because from an outsiders perspective, I wanted to talk to a professional, not because I am pretending to be one. I will move on. Thank you again. and so far I am nowhere near the cost of a new heater. Best regards and thanks to all. Now to figure out how to delete my account so I don't bother anyone else

This isn't davinci's code, think about it for a moment and it will come to you.

There are quite a few things that come to mind but I am not the type of person who just jumps in with all the answers without having a few more facts. At the point in this thread there are still a few unknowns.
