Does anyone mess with Credit Cards? Right, now in our business we don't take them. Was wondering if we should, and the easiest way to take them? Give me some Pro's and Con's.

Credit card "VERY IMPORTANT."
I have a lot of people who own vacation homes. Have no clue who they are mail me key or where is it hiding and your credit card number please. I tell them I'm going to charge them a service charge of $49.00 if the card is good I will do the work and charge for balance of bill never ever had an issue this way. People can take months or not even mail a check much safer this way. Rather pay the CC fee than not get paid at all.

I was kinda thinking that way to UnclogNH. We get so many advertisement on credit card machines, and the such. Was wondering if we can just take the customers number, or how to do it. Guess I will have to check it out more. Thanks for the information on it.

Somewhere in all these threads it was discussed, I got all kinds of quotes but ended up going with Quickbooks card services. Nothing to buy and you just call in for an auth.

Just a few questions:
Do you have to mail a bill in to them?
Does the credit card company just send you a check?
Guess what, gonna go to their site quickbook, and check it out.

Thanks Suzy ;)

I had one lady customer about a year and a half ago who tried to pay me with a credit card. Of course, I had no way to take it. So I decided maybe it was time to look into it.

So, I hooked up with Thompson Merchant Services. They charge just under $20 per month basic fee, and you handle everything over an 800 number.

I haven't had a customer who needed a credit card since. Still, I'm glad that I can provide the service if I ever need it. Maybe I'm just not selling enough. :whistling2:

Just phone it in on their 800 number and you get paid with 24-48 hrs
They auto deduct the fee and % from your account every month
if tou don't use it you only pay the monthly fee. Say you use it once fee is $10.00 say 4.5% you do a $100.00 job your total payment that month is $14.50

That has got to be the greatest info this weekend yet!!! I have been looking to streamline that process and it sounds like I'm going with that idea of Quickbooks POS. Thank You!!!

Yes to taking credit cards.

1.Sometimes people dont have ready funds
2.People like to use their cards for the points(believe it or not)
3.They feel safer in case a bad job is done to get their money back.
4.It will just get you more work.

Do a good search before you get hooked up with a company.I have been with the same company for 2 years and found a way better deal and realized that I signed a for year contract I cant get out of.

You can also use paypal or google checkout for right now.
