Hey PC, thanks for posting your information. I have been through it a couple of times now. It has given me a few ideas for sure.
One thing I would like to request though, do you have a normal stock list for both shop and truck? Every time I start to think I am ready for most calls someone pulls a rabbit out of their hat and I am left scrambling. I realize thaat my list will not reflect yours in all ways, but man is it getting tiring trying to out think problems before they happen.

Hey PC, thanks for posting your information. I have been through it a couple of times now. It has given me a few ideas for sure.
One thing I would like to request though, do you have a normal stock list for both shop and truck? I have a program that will work perfect for what you want. It will take about two days to make the program so you can download and run it without MS Access. This software is part of a system I use for organizing my stock room and for placing an order for supplies. The program prints orders for supply houses and it makes labels for bins in the supply room. It is a very basic and simple program but it works for me. The program will work great for obtaining materials for specific types of work. For example, when you want to stock your truck, in less than five minutes you could make and print a list for everything that is on your truck. Your specific lists can be kept in the program and updated any time. For a specific type of job, you could make a list of every possible part you may need. This will be very simple. I do not use any program for tracking materials for job cost nor for theft.

I will work on it tomorrow and it has a few small details I need to clean up.

You should try more of the free software programs.

The accounting software is very important from my point of view, but I would think more people would download and test the dispatching software, the customer list database, and all the other programs. These are very critical for making sure you don't lose service calls, to maximize the potential of leads, to make sure you capitalize on every lead, for tracking your jobs, and a hundred more things. These are the two most important pieces of software for organizing every phase of running the business. The accounting program is a very important, very simple, basic, but very boring compared to the other programs. During the past 6 months, a little over 2,000 people downloaded the accounting program and about 10 people downloads for other programs. I am confused!

You know, PC, I poked a bit of fun at you in my earlier post, but in all honesty I think its cool of you to do stuff like this. I myself love dabbling with MS Access and MS Excel (still building/tweaking my own data systems). I've taught myself quite a bit and am always looking for new ideas. I've downloaded lots of your stuff from the CT site and it has given me quite a bit of food for thought.

Your motives and methodology here at PZ/CT may be a little off kilter, but in the end, who am I really to judge? I certainly understand others skepticism and I must admit I have some of my own, but feel I am intelligent enough to make my own decisions. When listening to the advice of others, its always best to keep in mind your own knowledge and experience, and determine if the advice is something that is helpful or not. There are pros and cons to everything.

I thought about mailing lists, but honestly? There's 4 service and repair companies and 1 billion new construction plumbers (gypsys, jobbers and other Californians). I ain't that hard to find.

Copy of stock control program.

This is a program we use to order supplies, organize our supply room, and use for a reference to make sure we don't miss ordering parts we need for our supply room. You could use this program to make lists for your truck, or specific types of services. This is a program I made specifically for my company. There are some small details I am too lazy to modify for the next few weeks.

Please read the instructions for downloading all programs very carefully. These do not download the same as store-bought programs. If you have a problem downloading a copy, let me know.

Leonard posted all of this stuff a few months back on another forum. I downloaded it then and have had a chance to read through it. There is some very usefull information and valuable business tactics for insuring repeat business. to date Leonard has never asked me for one cent or even a favor of any kind. If he has an ulterior motive he's done a good job of hiding it.
