Any specific trouble that you’re having with a tank type toilet ? I’d make sure it has a good handle and has a glazed trap way. Buy an aftermarket handle like the heavy ones wolverine sells, front mount.

Some people like the flushmate tanks, I have mixed feelings.

I insist on Flushmate.
I have had the Am. Std. Flowise Cadet 3 in my office bathroom. It is ADA, has standard Fluidmaster ballcock, standard 3" flapper and only clogged it once in 1.5 years so far and I've thrown some hard work at it.
Champion is always impressive when the rep. flushes 13 golf balls at the trade shows and demo days, but non common insides is unappealing.

I'd go with an American Standard Cadet Pro, preferably the FlushMate version. The non-assisted variety takes standard guts too.

The Champion 4 is a good one. The only thing different from normal is the flapper, and I can find those almost anywhere in my neck of the woods.

Have a customer taking over an old restaurant and wants to refresh all the fixtures. I haven’t had much experience with tank types in restaurants here as most are flush valves. I want to avoid problems as I know how rough these Hoosiers can be even with Sloan flush valves

I have had good luck with the common TOTO tank type toilets....
i was not sure how they would hold up but they have been in for about
13 years in a mechanical shop with some really nasty fellows using them
and they seem to be happy with them....

If you're really that concerned get concealed Sloan valves.

No tank type toilet will be "durable" because the tank is a ~14" long lever on the tank bolts. All it takes is someone leaning back to break that connection, usually cracking the tank where the bolt holes are. You could install a spacer block behind the tank to prevent this. Then I suppose the next weak point is the lid, so caulk that down.

Or you could use the proven commercial option, a Sloan valve. If it works in a high school it will work in a bar.
