You made statement about why I have non-plumbing videos on my channel.

I'll show you what one such example of "Cross-Marketing" means to me:

1509 views

I'm a sponsor to this event. One of a couple reasons I was there, taping, but the video was for another company of mine.

Did you know that youtube does not count a "view" unless the video has been seen in its entire length?

There could be 4 times that amount who have actually "seen" bits and pieces of this video.

You ask,

"What does that have to do with plumbing"

It has everything to do with 1000's of people that went to this event, and now somehow this video shows up on the front page of the actual fair itself, with my company name directly tied to it, blowing away that 1/2 page I bought in the fair booklet that is looked at briefly, gone forever.

Youtube is the poor man's video library, and that's why I'm there.

FYI,

I've landed calls from this video, through just 'association' with this large event, contributing back to my community

This video has been referenced countless times with my name being tossed around like a ping pong ball.

I make damn sure I have multiple purposes for everything marketing.

That video above?

Pumps cash flow in business #1 (plumbing)

It embeds into my 4th company that makes me a historian, collecting what we didn't have 30 years ago. <<< There are no videos of that fair back in the 70's. We've failed as a society not to trap valuable history, no matter how insignificant we think a crude video is now.

I then "once again" can tie this video into "related" content because at this same event, I've been there numerous years taping my other products (#2 and #3 companies) and now instead of people just looking at products I rent/sell/lease,

I've entered the social media world where I'm NOT going to build my businesses by a reach of 85% passer bys,

I'm building myself into everything people like to do, and most times it don't have a damn thing to do with plumbing.

Nobody, I mean nobody without a plumbing problem or issue goes to plumbing sites unless its crisis time, or planning time. That's direct focus need.

I'm never going to get found with that alone.

It's the matter of becoming everything that follows the same thing as driving down a road, seeing my truck parked in a customer's driveway not once, but many times when I speak of the internet.

Big Picture?

All these sites when they mature will indirectly have me right in the equation with my company(s) enjoying the recognition without paying others to do so.

It's called information control and there's only a handful of those who can do it. I'm at the bottom but looking up is pretty inspirational to me right now. It really is.

I've laid out a solid foundation based on heavy planning and hours that no one will believe I'm putting into this big picture.

You have to be something no one believes can happen.

This video was also mentioned on the Bob & Tom show, a nationally syndicated radio broadcast as it was a highlighted video that was discussed one morning about how crazy these lawnmower races are.

And right in the sandwich of a talked conversation...

A local plumbing company had everything to do with its existence, and that video will stay there indefinitely.

Bookmark it and you'll see that people will watch that video when this year's fair is on its way. The site views at the fair's website prove it.

Nobody thinks about plumbing at a county fair.

I made it where you have to see my product, and I haven't even put annotations on that video yet. DAMN!

Dunbar,
Good for you.
I didn't ask for a marketing lesson, I study the subject on my own. This started, I think, with a discussion on uniforms and sweatpants, then it had something to do with ice cream, the morbidly obese, nasty restaurants and now it's hog roping and lawnmower races.

Okay, I am done chasing rabbits with you. Wear sweatpants, skip bathing and keep a messy truck. We're cool , dude.

Remind me to never get into a theological discussion with you, okay.

Oh, and I am sure those are really, really nice sweatpants.LOL.

Quite the spectacle is what I call it. I'm having a weekend where the mind flooooows into the print veeeeeeeeeeerry well and I can't stop myself at this point.

waldrop,

Of course not; that sign on the fence line is expensive to be there.

I know this because that video/year was the first time I pulled mine down because the people on the hillside see all those signs as a blur, with exception to sunbelt which got that logo out there for free. << Donated equipment rental for the event.

Scroll down, it's there all year round' yeeeeeehaaaaaaww

I'm on the home page as well.

There's a value to any time you can put your name to the masses.

I took video of another fair, and mark my words; someone is going to get seriously injured or killed someday in that event and there will be no more.

Saw a bad injury last year that happened to a fellow you see in that video, just a different event. I missed it with my camera, would of been one that grabbed a ton of views.

It all works, that's all that matters no matter how many negative and how many positive.

Now come rub my feet, they are unclean.

I'm going to stop talking about marketing.

Majority do not understand the work and effort, the time it takes to make it work. It really is powerful when it aligns and becomes profitable.

Dude, next thing you're gonna say is taking a bath gets you wet.

Thank you Señor Platitude!

You got how many business owners on PZ and you make comments about the time, effort and work that marketing is.

Well at least your marketing advice is free.

I hope the truck works out well for you, Mr. Sweaty Pants.

I swear you and my old buddy Tieger must be related. Cos both of you are full of advice.

Anyway brother, I hope you have a great week and consider buying a trash can to keep in the cab, then make the helper empty it out every time you stop to get fuel or before you go out in the morning.
