We've recently built a warehouse next to our office (deal was done BEFORE slow down unfortunately).. So we are in a position to stock extra material for our long term projects..

If you have overstock or you are going out of business and looking to sell your material, please send me a PM or email me.. Things we are looking for are: Schedule 40 and 3034 Pipe, DWV and CPVC fittings, certain name brand toilets and other new construction trim fixtures..

edit - As was pointed out, I guess I should of said that our company would be willing to travel throughout Florida to pickup material.. Maybe a little further if it's material that we are short on..

Ya might want to give an intro of yourself so we know who we are talking with.

Also, your location would be helpful. I can't imagine what the shipping would be on that stuff if somebody did have something you wanted.

I'm guessing Niger and it has something to do with Western Union.

where?....anyhow......

No No, This is part of the real world folks....CFO is what is called a bulk buyer , merchandise locater / reseller...a scout of sorts that works for big corps and gets bonus the more he find for cheap

CFO ( SORRY don't know your real name ) is something that is in most dying trades start to see just before they are about to completely fall.

For instance, when my step dad went bankrupt in the 90's a bulk buyer bought his merchandise for 50% off of the cost, he was into the "indoor golf" market so it was different but same principle.

See what CFO will do is make this offer to shops that are going under, and maybe they have all these materials on credit, Then the owner sells to CFO and then CFO resells to a bigger company.

CFO wins and so does the dishonest plumber that sells his goods on credit for cash to just get some cash.

Basically CFO is a guy moving merchandise

BUT WHAT THE SCARY PART is that he is here.

Why is that scary?

Because the fact that he is here proves this industry is dying, He knows that many shops are in trouble and they are .....we all no that, New construction is dead and will never be what it used to be

So, I bet his offer to buy is legit, its just not comfortable to see it in your own yard.......

But I doubt he from overseas , he is just looking to make a buck like everyone else.....

CFO am I close?

While your theory is cute and surely provided me entertaining reading in my 12th hour at work, it is almost 100% inaccurate.. However, you got my username right, so you've got that running for you.. I've been on ContractorTalk since December 2007, with the same username.. So unless I'm REALLY into the LONG CON, then I'm afraid I'm just a normal guy..

First off, if you read my introduction, which I wrote before I got to read this gem, you'll get some more information on me.. But no, I'm not a "bulk buyer", and I don't work for "big corps".. I'm the son of a plumber of 30 years, who was also a Marine.. Our family's company is well respected in the area and we work for some of the biggest builders in the country (or at least more than we do now).. All I am trying to do is save some money on material that people are looking to sell already.. In a time where our competitors bids are getting lower, we all have to find a way to cut costs.. We have the lowest Workman's Comp rates we've ever had, but the highest Medical costs ever.. I guess I either offended someone by my thread, because I never thought this would be the reaction..

Oh, and my name and company are a part of my email if you want that kind of personal information from me..

You didn't offend me. I hope I didn't offend you. Just figured some folks would wonder where you were. Obviously I don't think you would buy overstock in Oregon when you live in Florida. Thanks for posting your location.

Hi,

I wasnt looking to offend you ,

I was just pointing out how it works, call it what you want but a duck is duck

Let me explain and BTW there is nothing wrong with buying bulk, people do all the time, and I didnt say you were from a foreign land either,

Sounds exactly like what I said .....

Your a shop that used to have 120 guys ( BIG CORP)

YOU bought a HUGE warehouse = BULK BUYER

Your GOING to resell the stuff ( I.e. doing jobs )

Now as far as the rest.

Are you willing to pay cost on this stuff ?

Or are you looking to a percentage off what it cost from a dealer?

And BTW, Why did you mention your dad was a Marine?

I mean my father is a police officer....but what the heck does that have to do with buying bulk?

This is where I got my info

Not sure about you BUT 120 man SHOP is a BIG corp .....Come on lets get real.....

What was your gross volume on a 120 man shop?

Hey fellow Plumbing Practitioners, I'm CFO and you guess it, I'm the CFO of a plumbing company here in Central Florida.. Like most companies, we've fallen from grace.. We had over 120 employees in 2006, and our numbers have shrunk significantly since then.. We are now down to 37 people.. Fortunately though, we have a good family base intact, and the best plumbers in the area.. I've been on ContractorTalk's site for a couple years, but my interest is in plumbing only, and more toward the business end, as oppose to the execution.. After running the finances of around 50 million in sales over 7 years, I hope that my opinion will be an asset for certain topics..

Oh and I think your fine , not picking on you :)

Just a matter of semantics I suppose......Then again we could go with TOUTAHNOWS theory as well that was more fun I agree.

Where should we ship the stuff :)

JK man, relax :)

I'm guessing Niger and it has something to do with Western Union.

Another DUMB question....why don't you sell the warehouse?

why go into more debt buying fittings when you just laid off 80 + guys?

If it were me, it would be because the real estate market is in the toilet and i'm not hurting bad enough to want to give it away.

CFO - Thanks for your post. I took you at face value and for those plumbers in your area who have extra, it's a need meeting a need.

******* - he is not a vulture because our industry is dead / dying. Just ask the old timers - cycles like this come and go. Plumbers will always be needed and new construction will start back up again.

LOL-I never called him a name. I did say I was guessing he was from Niger and he might want his money sent via Western Union but that had more to do with his lack of introduction.

As far as the trades being slow, it does run in cycle and those who are prepared will make it and those who have not will not make it. There will always be ups and downs in the trades and this is no different. When things are like this you need to adjust your marketing and services.

It will be at least twenty years before new construction is booming at the rate it was in the late nineties up until a year or so ago, if it ever gets back to that point. Right now there is a glut of available commercial space available throughout most of the country, and new housing will never reach the numbers it was even five years ago, because lenders are not going to be allowed to push ARM's and interest only mortgages under new banking regulations. There is even talk of putting predatory lenders like payday loan stores out of business by capping the interest rate they can legally charge. It is not a good time if you rely on new construction as your main source of business.

I actually am very friendly with the Interior Minister of Niger. He helped me find $250,000,000 my long lost uncle left me. As soon as I can come up with the $100,000 transfer fees I will be living in "fat city".
