Have a Watts T&P in a 40-gallon Superstor Indirect WH. Cold start boiler, house only used on weekends so DHW is room temp during the week. When it heated the water today it opened the T&P before it ever got to temp. I could hear it running water on the floor. There's a Therm-X-Trol to allow room for expansion. I shut of the supply to the tank to stop the flow out the T&P. I lifted the lever to exercise it and see if any crud was there but the valve does not shut tight. As soon as I turn on the supply, water runs right out. Cool water, no real pressure. I have had these weep before when the spring doesn't shut off tightly but I've never had one run like that? Is this just a bad T&P that failed today when the water heater began to heat up or is there something else I should look for? The Therm-X-Trol is not waterlogged, it's still charged with air and appears to be OK.
