Default New Water Heater - How to do water pipes?

Hi all,
My 12 year old State water heater needs replacing and I have a question regarding the hot and cold supply lines to the top of the heater. I have attached a picture of what my old heater looks like. So, if I cut the copper pipe just above the top Shark Bite what is the best way to re-attach the water supply back to the top of the heater? I see on Youtube that there are so many ways of doing this but would like your input on this. Thanks so much!
