Default Building a website..... Manufacturers?

So I'm building myself a site using wix. It's a pretty cool way to help people who have minimal experience using html coding. I've done some when i was younger but really basic stuff.

Anyway, I thought it would be cool under a "Sales & Installation" tab or page to have a list of manufacturers that I have access to through my suppliers. I would make them clickable links so that people could find the sites easier when they want me to help guide them when picking out fixtures.

So I went to the contact information on a lot of the manufacturers and fired off emails, and by God, this is a lot harder than it should be. I got a few responses back telling me I need to contact corporate office, or talk to the factory rep. Some didn't respond at all. One that did respond and even followed up with a second email said they wanted to look at my site to see what the placement was going to be even though I sent them an example of another site that does something similar to what i'm thinking about.

It doesn't even really make sense to me. This is like free advertising to them. Granted, i'm small time, but why is it so difficult?

It will be easier if you talk to their marketing department or their local rep.

It will also be easier after you've been in business a while. It took me a year before they decided for me to see 2 faucet brand reps over coffee. One faucet maker secretary told me to bugger off and I had to pay 2x more for their cartridges.

The unfriendly faucet maker uses the same cartridges as the other brands and also available on ebay and amazon.

Guess what when someone is asking for a faucet I recommend the ones who were nice to me.

Did you get that website up Alan? Just wondering, I'm looking at building (or having one built) and Wix is a consideration.
Also how did that go with the manufacturer tab, I would have thought since they're public sites would you need their permission?

Wix is super easy, and there are a lot of FAQ out there if you can't figure out how to do something.

I haven't gotten the site finished yet, and the MFG tab is still a thing I am wrestling a bit with mentally. They didn't seem very open to the idea for some reason.

I was able to get a line card from my salesman, but I'll probably just add the bulk of the most recognizable stuff as a list without any links. Maybe i'll do that, then resend a link to my page or a screenshot and ask them if they would be interested in a free link to their site from my page.

At that point their story may change.
