either a 2ft or 3ft wooden chippy rule, 10ft tape was just steel ,if it got wet it just rusted away, had to oil it every week.
The good old days, the first job I went on was a lab and all the wastes was lead, hard work.

Did you installed this lead drain line? Circ 1890...
