Default Power vent surprise.

Found what's left of birds today in a furnace flue. The decapitated head was found in squirrel cage of the power vent.https://www.plumbingzone.com/attachm...1&d=1567459736

I’ve come across a mouse tripping a sensor, even with the screen.... a bird I can see, but never seen!

Worst bird issue i have dealt with was a bathroom exhaust fan. They made a nest in the small plenum above the ceiling unit. The tenants called maintenance when they heard baby birds chirping. Maintenance didn't call us until a week later when the chirping stopped.

I pulled a whole family of dead, rigored, seeping, birds out. 5 babies and the two parents. WTF.

I had birds build nests during the summer in my wood stove flue pipe at the top by the cap...I cleaned them out before lighting the stove, but smoked bird did sound tasty.....
I have cleaned out a variety of dried up animals over the years from the base of chimneys when cleaning them out or doing conversions...

ps..the dead ones dont bite....

Another furnace flue story. After summer not using furnace, troubleshooting a flame rollout switch.
Finally took the top off the flue and found paper daubber wasp had covered the entire 4" with a brood nest. Happily the young had developed and left.

And the dead rat story, down the 2" Sch 40 flue on condensing tankless.
The orig. installer did not have the flue exit above the roof, but just inside the old roof jack that was still in place from the B type flue.
There was a gap between the pvc top and the furnace cap...
The installer should have drilled out the metal B cap to penetrate.
The rat found its way up into the pvc, and was down near the Navien flue port. Pulled the pipe and shook the dead bugger out.

This is from a few years ago, I may have posted it. I was working in a crawl space and moved a piece of plywood. There was an old vent of some sort filled with bat bones.
