Unfortunately I feel that in an area like California where water is usually scarce, and therefore expensive, it will always be something politicians try to "fix". Low flow toilets, shower heads, waterless urinals... I cannot wait to see what new water saving idea gets made mandatory. Only for people to find out that it doesn't work as advertised. But at that point it's too late, since it seems like no one ever un-mandates a bad idea.

I dont believe there are any real water shortages..other than the man made ones to raise the price of water....
remember in the 1970s and the claimed oil shortage??? with so many oil tankers anchored off shore they didnt know where to put them, there was plenty of oil, but it makes more financial sense to the OIL COMPANY to sell less product at a much higher rate and make more profit...
this is nothing new but now they do it with water...
california pisses 10s of billions away on illegals, criminals, welfare and plenty of other useless social programs....
take some of that $$ and build desalination plants to produce fresh water( if they really have a shortage)...
but playing the shortage game makes everyone $$$ except the user and the new regulations cost the homeowner in either retrofit costs and fines if they use too much water..adding to the government bank accounts....

decades ago if you said you would be paying for bottles water most would laugh..now bottled water outsells every other beverage on the market...
people cry about the cost of a gallon of gasoline..well figure out what a gallon of bottled water cost if you buy small bottles at a time...and the claim bottled water is cleaner than tap water..more BS...true maybe some pure spring water is cleaner, but most is just filtered tap water and is not regulated to the standards of municipal water systems.....and if you used a simple filter you would be better than bottled water....
