Default Dishwasher hookup

I had a new dishwasher installed a few months ago. It is now starting to smell. The smell goes away after a cycle is complete and returns. When I remove the filter there is bit of standing water. I’m not sure if it is draining properly. I have an air gap and disposal. Is the hose too long? Should it be draped along the bottom of the cabinet like this?

man that is dangerous, you better stop using your dishwasher till you hire a licensed plumber for a correct installation, way too much wrong there to even start to explain how to fix....maybe you need to change the type of food you prepare if it smells that bad...do you get the same smell when you take a dump? that would narrow it down to your food too...

The gear clamps are upside down, flip them over, that should fix the problem.

Got me wondering, could you post a picture of this filter you remove and the standing water? I don't see a sign of any kind of RO, insta-hot, etc. Have I been missing something for the past 15+ years when I install a d/w? What brand of dishwasher did you get? Hose kinda looks like a Bosch one. Who installed the dishwasher?

FYI, If Logtec's advice doesn't completely help, rotate the clamps 180 after flipping them.

You need someone to re-pipe your potable water system.

If your dishwasher smells bad spray it with some Drakkar Noir. It's a classic but still works better than the new stuff.
