Well, the state hasn't melted down from legal pot sales. Lots more slow speed accidents, though.

Ya never know what grows in my backyard.....best be careful where you walk, though.

Since MI became a MM state I can't tell you how many houses I've been in doing estimates or a job and at the end I ask the home owner "How are the babies doing?" Priceless every time! There are a few grow houses that I take care of around here, infact installing about 16' of trench drain in one coming up the end of this week. I always try to make it the last or only job of the day, because I stink when I leave, not to mention out of politeness I always have to rub and smell it. Yesterday looking at the job one was grape soda, the other some kind of diesel?

I will have to agree with the booze vs. weed argument. I've never heard of anyone dying from smoking pot, I do know my father, grandfather, and many others have died from drinking too much. My dad, in his last days had nuts the size of softballs and was in severe pain due to kidney failure and jaundice. For a white dude he was very yellow. As I tell people, I'm a plumber, not a Dr. I see what I see and know what I know.

AFA the work place goes, I don't give a crap if you're buzzing or a tad high, done right there! Not the place! For your own safety and the safety of others. IMHO, what someone does on their own time is their business and I'm fine with that as long as it doesn't effect me or mine in anyway.

MI has had a recreational bill in the works for sometime now... think it went up for a vote, or is going to? Haven't paid much attention. I know it would help with my GERD, and could easily get a MMC, but I'm not giving up or risking my CPL (Concealed Pistol License). While I have a hard time eating, I'd rather have my gun.

Happy Anniversary!

It's been a year since Washington legalized pot and you know what happened? Businesses started and people are working. Jails got fewer inmates and courts are less busy. Cops have one less worry.

Sales are over $270,000,000.00 of which is $70,000,000.00 in taxes we didn't have before. 270 million dollars in one year....lots of sales!

Two years of legal pot and the world hasn't ended. It's hard to pin down the tax revenue, but a total-to-date estimate would be $150 million. The banks are getting hassled from the febs (still illegal on the fed level), so many stores are on a cash basis. Gee, a business owner getting cash? I'm sure everything is getting reported correctly.

It's a growing business, for sure.

Nationwide, legal marijuana sales reached $5.4 billion in 2015 and are expected to hit $6.7 billion in 2016.
