Default My 9 year old kid has his own shop. How crazy is that?

A year and a half ago I started to build my son a "fort". I wasn't able to get it completed and felt really bad about that. Then I had the chance to buy a 8' x 8' storage shed dirt cheap. I needed it for awhile but told my son he could use it after I was done. I got done a few days ago. He is having a ball. Here are a couple of pics and what my lovely wife wrote on our blog.

Quote:
The Long Awaited Moving In

  • He is trying to patiently wait until his Papa can build him shelves to put all his collections on!
  • Max is right at home already. He has claimed the red chair! He rushes to sit on there every time J------ gets up off it!
  • The radio is set to a classical music station!
  • If we can't find him, he is out there reading or hammering nails to hang something up!

Quote:
Night falls...he is still out there!

I went out the front door and walked around the house with the camera to sneak this picture!
I thought I could but forgot about the ears of a dog!
Max left out a bark and jumped off the table!
J------- gave out a yelp of surprise!
He pictured something big coming in to eat him he said!
He is the reading the book Iceburg Hermit about polar bears and such!
So actually this photo is staged once Max would go back and pose for me!

He has lived out there in his Fort all afternoon and evening
and at 9PM it is now dark outside!

He even wanted to eat his supper out there!
Do you notice the spool hanging above the door?
It is rigged to a rope fastened to the rafter over by him.
He can let the spool come crashing down on your unsuspecting head,
if you are an unwanted visitor!

Well, that is, if you are a short visitor as it is about shoulder height on me!

I love my little man!
I love that little guy!

That is so cool of you. I never got anything like that when I was a kid.

That's awsome. I'm sure he's getting full use. Have you resigned the fact that you're not getting your shed back for a couple years?

Yeah. But this was the plan all along.

If something I have in the works goes through i may need to move out of state in a couple of months which sucks about the shed. But he knows that going in.
