![]() So, some @SShole smashed mine and a neighbor up the street mailbox on purpose today with his pickup. Now I have an excuse to build the pipefitter mailbox of my dreams.
I am soliciting design ideas, features, etc. I have in mind 3" sch 80. Fill with concrete, set in concrete. Possibly box in 1x6 or whatever for the sleeper look. When a vehicle hits it, I would like it to be totaled. Any suggestions? Gargalaxy and MACPLUMB777 like this.

![]() What about a mine field, way more bang for your buck!
![]() ![]() I live in the old part of town where crazies abound. I don't want my packages to get stolen so I built this a few years ago. Now I have to build a fence against my welfare neighbor who rides a van with broken windows and he literally built a shed, gazebo, 2nd floor balcony, deck and so on with scraps of wood found in the trash, He only rents the tiny rundown apartment! ![]() |

![]() Could go old school and fill cast with cement wye, 45 and clean out at the top. I’ll have to think about the actual box today.

![]() There have been cases in the past of people hitting a mailbox and suing the owner of the mailbox for injuries/property damage.
Not saying I agree with it but you better learn what you’re getting yourself into. |

![]() I used to drive OTR. So I would often bring the truck home. To make it easier I mounted my mailbox to a steel pipe welded to a big truck drum. This way I could roll it out the way to get my 53 foot flatbed in the yard. One night I heard some noise out front, next morning my mailbox was gone. Found pieces of the drum down the road along with a trail of oil. Nice!
