Interesting day... found a deal on Craigslist, two 5 gallon ball lock kegs a a 5# co2 cylinder for $45! Used at my LHBS they go for $70 each. However these are kegs Iíve never seen before.... they have a headphone jack looking thing that apparently tells you when youíre getting low?

So I stopped by my store, they had never seen kegs like this either. Iím probably going to replace it with another gas ball lock... less chance of infection.

Coolest thing is a former member and president of the club who moved out of state about the time I joined was there on vacation. Weíve been friends on FB for quite sometime, first time meeting ftf. Great guy! Dropped my wife and kid off and bottled a couple bottles of the cream ale OlíNelly gave me the recipe for.

Tomorrow weíre going out to the lake and Iíll be teaching my cousin in law how to brew.

Posted these pics on HomeBrewTalk... one guy says they were probably fo an eye wash station. Makes sense with the “level sense” dodad. Played around with it last night... going to figure out how to plug it without extra bs in it.

Competition night. Only three entries. I knew mine was the first as it didn’t follow the IHBJC, or whatever the acronym is. I scored mine last according to the guidelines, knowingly so.

I’m sure my recipe was off, didn’t buy BeerSmith until after I brewed it, guesstimated. Stuck sparge.... definitely drinkable! Has a slightly bitter, even extremely slighter sour apple note in both the aroma and flavor. I’m sure that’s from the bittering hops.

A buddy of mine who’s been brewing for 30+ years said he suspects some scientific term for slightly souring or maybe the yeast wasn’t done... however it sat in the fermenter for 5-6 weeks before kegging. I force carbed, so maybe?

[email protected] roughly 65-68f?

@OldNelly, thanks for the recipes! One new member brought in a preprohbition porter that was amazing tonight! I’ll text him tomorrow and find out what yeast.

With my LHBS closing, high spender, closing in on my third $750 reward ($50 gift card each $750 spent), and in good with the only employee, I got my dream library for cheap! Advanced stuff, msrp $20, Amazon $14.99. They have a bunch of books orange tag, $5 each. These were not! 50% off, so $10 each. Saw them last week and asked my buddy to hold the last four. Tonight I reminded him. He says “I’m going to say these must be orange sticker price.”! $20!

I’ve got some reading to do! Also won of the 50/50 prizes. Some cool stuff!

When I mention sour, it is in no way close to a sour beer, just a tinge of sour apple note.

Wifeís family reunion today. Scored a cool stein from Germany!

Anyhow, I brought three kegs and just in case brought a smaller co2 tank. Had the windows of my truck half way down, roughly 80f out today. All of a sudden thereís a ton of co2 spewing out of my truck!

Anyone ever hear of this happening?

Another 250 gallons in the fermenter today. Well, 255 gallons, I took 5. Had to take 2 jobs today, got back in time for the cleaning.

Oatmeal stout, they pulled post boil while I was gone. I decided on us-05, they used s-04. Mine is chocolate covered cherry stout, theirs will be oatmeal stout divided into three.

Hoping to make a ginger beer they might want to put on tap. Red Yeti is my plumbing/brewing handle... so Iím thinking of calling it Red Ginger. Goes with the times.
