My Master got a job offer managing a plumbing company. I really hope he takes it. I’ve been with him for over 4 years now and have not only witnessed his decline, but mine as well. Both work and non work related injuries really affect your ability to perform your job.

Glad you’re on the mend! Sounded pretty serious!

Stopped by my LHBS this afternoon for lunch and exchange a co2 cylinder. Noticed some amaretto flavoring on clearance. Thinking it was for beer I asked about it. Iím sure you could use it in a beer, but really itís for the hard stuff.

On the way home I bought a fifth of vodka. Add 1 1/4 cup of sugar and shake until the sugar is dissolved. Turned out awesome! 80 proof amaretto....

Going to give my MIL a pint for Motherís Day.

Rice wine.

Sweet, boozy smell, pleasant taste and creamy mouthfeel. Much better than I expected! Next two batches 1: cinnamon 2: ginger.

Good experience with an experiment....

@OldNelly

I now have the ability to brew a 10 gallon batch!

Picked up a whole collection from a guy today. Half barrel keggle, 50qt tun, two plastic carboys, garden hose wort chiller, another co2 tank and gauge, yeast starter glass thingy, bottling bucket, and all the normal brewing stuff. What I got is everything I would need to brew other than a burner, star-san and PBW. $220! The keggle alone is worth that! SS ball valve, thermometer, sight glass and false bottom, not to mention the time it would take to make it. Retail is probably over $1k.

His Craigslist add was over a month old so I emailed him how much for everything. His prices added up to about $400. I guess he was so desperate he gave me a heck of a deal. When I asked him why he was getting out of brewing he said that his wife and he were trying to get out of debt.

The only thing I didn’t get is a fermenter to make a full 10 gallon batch. However, I have one of those half barrel kegs that has the rubber coating on the outside. I’m just trying to decide if I want to install a SS ball valve and thermometer or just use an auto siphon.

I didn’t have enough room in my truck to bring everything home today so I left the tun, keggle and a big box of lines and miscellaneous stuff at my Master’s poll barn. I’m working for myself tomorrow, so I probably won’t get pictures till Monday.

May the 4th be with you, just happens to be National Homebrew Day!

My LHBS offers 10% off every ingredient in the store and we brew in the parking lot.

Just got done washing, PBW, and sanitizing my equipment, will sanatize again everything before the wort touches again tomorrow, but I’m ready.

On the list is a summer wheat extract beer and a pineapple hard cider. Picked up 12 gallons of ro water today for the batches. All for family reunion. I’m cooking up a batch of chorizo breakfast burritos for everyone.

If I’m up to it, when I get home I plan on setting up a batch of skeeter pee, also for family reunion.

Small F’n world! We’re having our National home brew day in the parking lot, good times! I see some new people talking to my buddy who makes mead and join the conversation. Turns out he owns a national franchise restaurant. So I say “Oh so you’re the one that owes me money!” Lol!

He has a peach orchard that I now have dibs on!
