I don’t know my buddies mead’s ABV, but my Black IIPA should come out to just under 9.5% if it does ferment out to 1.000. I have had both beers and ciders ferment out to .998. So it all depends on how we mix to taste, but a braggot usually is around 12%ish.

i have my own bee hives and a few friends upstate, so getting straight from the hive is no problem..

1 gallon of honey, 6.5 gallon fermenter bucket, water, ro preferred, racking cane, and your good to go. There are a few more aspects that you need to know, I’m not an a expert on mead, but we have a class coming up. If you can get the equipment and honey I can walk you through it. Mead takes age, like wine, but I have seen speedy recipes.... but I’d age it at least a few weeks. From what it sounds, you’re good at aging anyway.....

If you ever venture, call me!

Well today is another brew day, kinda. My buddy’s coming over so we can mix our braggot for the club meeting in April. Probably only make a three gallon batch. Seriously tempted to brew something too. I have a couple of kits sitting around, but than again I also have a few extra supplies to make a hodgepodge beer....

Here we have the Stormtrooper. 1 gallon black imperial India pale ale, 1.5 gallons mead. Still dark as heck! Might have to backsweaten, added a pack of Premier Blanc, the most tolerant high ABV yeast that I had on hand. Going to let it ride until a week before the meeting then force carb it in my 3 gallon keg.
