Question chicago guys

A week ago i went to look at a job for residential chicago brick bungalow with an addition.Today i ended up calling the contractor to talk to him about my proposal and just to make sure that i was on the same page with him...After spending a couple of minutes on the phone with this guy he ends up telling me the only way i would get the job if i was able to do each fixture for $650 with that being said he had a total of 17 fixtures and wanted me too run 1'' copper lines two each bathrooms on the 2nd floor with A return hot line to each bath room on the same also run a return line to the KS

GUYS,explan to me how can one afford to do this job in the chicagoland area without losing your $ss on this job?

That's not out of line if he provides the fixtures.

I believe my boss bids at about 500-600 a fixture. More in Lake Forest because CI is code. We're a small 3 man shop. I don't know about their (Boss and his son) health insurance, but being retired i have my own. Not sure how union shops can compete with his prices just as we don't have the manpower to do bigger jobs and compete with Union shops.

Respectfully said, as i am just a novice and have only seen it through a non union perspective.

If he furnishes the fixtures. Thats not a bad price at 650.00 per fixture. The body sprays might need to be bumped up to 1k or so. The key is to get in and out as quick as possible. Stomp the job! Get him to furnish the circ. pump too.
