It is in our manual and is part of our agreement to hire. If they don't like the terms, they can turn down the opportunity.

We look for those who 'get it' and understand why this is our policy. If they don't 'get it,' they obviously have different values than our company's core values. It's not a judgment on them. We want to project a certain image and are unwilling to compromise.

Also, we won't hire any drama kings. I.E. "I have three ex-wives, pay child support in three different states, I'm in between apts., etc." We'll pay more to hire stable individuals. Makes my life that much better and makes for better employees.

Not in our policy, but what an employee does in his spare time could affect his position within the company. As a business owner, I don't have total freedom either, because what I do personally does reflect back on the business. I don't see where it's any different with an employee. In the service business, your personal and professional lives can and do overlap.
Thank you PC. I agree with you completely. I also agree with others about what should be done with an employee that steals. Side-work as we know it, is wrong and no real Plumber should ever engage in it. All it does is hurt the whole industry, by lowering rates.

all what was stated above is good.....

I have been lax but have always wanted to get the
manual made up for employees to tell them what is expected of them... all spelled out. been looking
for one for a while but dont have any employees on the horision that I would need one for....

did you make up your own manual or did you find
something some where.....

need to get my hands on one some day soon
