A business plan is a good place to start...but I didnt start there.

IMO. Doing side work would have been no less than stealing work from the company I worked for that feeds my family and paid my bills. Either the actual jobs that I could have referred to the company or energy I needed to perform my work for them. I never did side work. By the time I finished my day or week I did not want to see plumbing until time to return to my job. Anything more than 50 work hrs per week is counter productive. The companies I worked for needed my full attention every work day. No one will ever work for me that does "side work" if I am aware of it..

So, do you still work for that "company that feeds your family" , or did you open your own and take work from them? What is the difference? This boy asked a simple question. The response from this forum was oh no, not in my back yard, I am such a good plumber, you do side work-what trash you are!
I joined this forum because we were here to help each other(so I thought).
If you are so damned insecure well then toss me out, times are tuff, all of us are looking for ways to make a living within our profession. We all have to help each other, down the street, across the country, whatever. The best times for all of us, will only happen if we HELP EACH OTHER! As I said, if this forum does not agree with the above toss me out, I will find my way to be the BEST on my own. Spudwrench

I use to do side work and my boss *****ed and moaned about it. One day I basically told him to stfu or do somthing about it. And no I didn't get fired......I was putting way more BREAD on his table than he was putting on mine.

I think that as long as the OP's license is good, and NOT lapsed or deactivated, then he should be good to go. Further more, I would hope that someone who had enough sense to get the appropriate licesne KNOWS why he/she is getting it. I didn't get mine to hang over the toilet, so I could stare at it while I puke from reading too much of this forum.
I had a pretty good idea of how to start getting work before i even got my license. Advertise baby. Tell your friends, and they'll tell their friends, and so forth.
