Stillaround, that can be said of a few forum threads and it is fine that you do not want to give a reply. I am not sure what I did to offend you ,let me know.

No I did not say they were beneath me and was not my intent that is your perception or interpretation of the question.

I am happy to have a job and to be able to work.

No offense. How can I help. Sometimes the natural course of things requires no special observation or commentary..that said , you are free to observe and comment and I am only one person.
My gut feeling is, with all your reading, you filter and process normal life as an "example of behavior". I see it as a flow in the river grasshopper. I would be hurt if I knew my guys ( dont have em anymore ) were unhappy with me. Id check myself 1st then deal with the issue considering the normal laws of employment: are they being bad, screwing me over, just overworked, need a break..can I be better off without them...the norm........how is this a significant thing? Sorry if I find it un-noteworthy and it bothers you. I wont comment next time.

I would say that this sort of bellyaching and b1tching about one's jobs goes on everywhere and all the time regardless of the occupation. Who cares?

While I agree with what you are saying in theory, complaining privately is one thing. When it is being broadcast publicly and if it gets back to me . . . that is quite a different story.

Whining because they work long hours, IDGAF.

Whining because the boss is greedy, ignorant, taking advantage of etc. - that won't be ignored.

It's not about getting thicker skin. My feelings aren't being hurt, my reputation is being undermined in the above scenario!

For the record, as far as I know our employees don't complain publicly.

Employees can take over your company.......if they all come in the office and say..."hey we quit" what would that do to your investment? I get tired of hearing a owner talk about how hard they are.....it can all be over in a few minutes if the employees want it to be,.

They cannot take over a company . . . they can all visit the unemployment line though. Responsible, family oriented plumbers don't gamble with their livelihood. That's the FACTS!

BTW, spoken like someone who thinks like an employee. No wonder you don't have any.

Remember this rule - HE WITH THE MONEY WINS!

You are correct plumbcrazy they dont take over a company they SHUT THEM DOWN........and yes they will visit the unemployment line and you will help pay for that too.

Without your employees you are a one man shop......they are a step away from quiting at any minute. Its not like they are getting rich working for you Then what do you do with a plumbing business that is set up for 4 or 5 people with all that overhead? Hire more guys? Goodluck with that if you do repair plumbing.

I dont have employees because I do not want the trouble that comes along with them for the amount of money/time it costs to have employees compared to the amount of oney they would make me.

It all boils down to investment vs return. My ratio is off the charts.

A shut down company does not pay unemployment.

I'm not advocating pi$$ing off good employees. I'm advocating getting rid of trouble makers.

Employee / employer relationship is a delicate balancing act.
