Default Weird sound in water line.

A friend of mine sent me this video of a banging sound in his lav water line. When I first spoke to him I thought a water hammer or bad washer. But this sounds like a pipe banging on something and its almost like expansion but seems to loud. He lives out of my work area so I told him call someone local but its a good friend so I want to steer him in the right direction. Plus I'm curious now myself. Thanks.

Could it maybe be a loose waterline running right up against some ductwork and banging on it. Hell just open up the wall and check. I don't see any other way of finding out.

Very odd frequency. Does the frequency change when the flow rate is changed? That would give some insight into it being a water hammer.

Sounds like your friend has a ghost that is messing with him.

So it's doing that when nothing is in use? Is it a recirculation system? Might explain the consistent timing of the knocks.
