Personally I think she is lucky you didn't want to put a claim in under her H.O. insurance for getting 'hurt.' They created a dangerous situation and I cannot see how you are responsible.

Suppose you were working next to it and it fell on you because it was bumped?
What would her expression have been then?

From a business perspective, I think you did the right thing. However, I think I might have tried to present my case before offering to pay so quickly. In any event, I would not have given her more than she wanted.
