Default Thermal Expansion Tanks

When you install a Amtrol Thermal ST-5 or ST-12 tank pre-charged at @40 PSI. Do you check to see what the static pressure really is and pump up or decrease the pre-charge as necessary.

Reason for the post ... Watts tanks have a label printed in black on the box.

"The maximum pre-charge on the contents of this package is 20 PSI"

Always.

You're screwing the property owner otherwise as premature wear will be guaranteed.

Always check the tank pressure. I have had several tanks with varying charges. Tank is always 2 psi less than cut on of well switch.

yup, we lost big money with this apparently once. So we had tags to sign off that they were checked when put into operation on install.
