I had a lady call tonight asking me how she could find out the when her pipe was installed.

Here's what she said.

Crazy Lady: Hello, I've got some pipe in my attic that wasn't there a short time ago and I need to know where it came from. Can you help me?

Me: Huh?

CL:We built this house four years ago and there used to not be pipes in the attic, but now their are, I am going through a divorce and my husband won't leave the house and he knows these people that have these odorless toxic chemicals that cause cancer and these pipes might be why I am having health problems.

So she reads Coex cellular core and some other stuff stamped on the pipes and I tell her it's the manufactures stamp and the type of pipe and that she's looking at the vent.

CL:Vent for what?

Me:It the pipe that lets air in you plumbing system and sewer gases out.

CL:GASES?? WHAT KIND OF GASES? MY HUSBAND KNOWS PEOPLE WHO DEAL IN XRAY EQUIPMENT AND THAT MUST BE WHERE THESE PIPES COME FROM!!

Me:No ma'am, they are part of your plumbing.

CL:WHY DON'T THE OTHER PIPES HAVE THIS WRITING ON THEM?

Me:What other pipes?

CL:The other pipes in the attic?

Me:They do, but it's on the other side that you can't see?

CL:Oh, it's on the inside.

Me:No, on the opposite side of what you are viewing.

CL:I don't see it.
Me:Look on the other side.
CL:Oh, there it is.
CL:Why do they have this blue sealant around them?

Me:Ma'am, it's how the pipes are joined, it's kinda like glue, but different.

CL:These pipes used to not be here, He put them in when I was away.
Me:Okay, well if you want to pay me to come out and inspect them, I will.

CL:Have you ever heard of someone using pluming pipes to poison their wife?

Me:No Ma'am, he's got to be doing something else, that's just your plumbing.

She goes on for a minute and then hangs up. I thought it was a prank call at first, but she really seems sincere.

A lady lived up the street from me that had a chainlink fence put around the eve of her house because she claimed people were walking on her roof at night......the city made her take it down......then she started shooting into the air to scare them off at night. It was nothing but squirels running back and forth on the roof. I was a kid...I dont know what ever happened to her.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight! Yeah I got to go I'm a Plumber not Legal counsel. Maybe you should have suggested she call local psych hospital. Worse part, maybe there is something strange going on, and she was right.

I once had a lady who introduced me to her mother, who now dead and cremated is alive and well and feeding her rubber tree plant sitting by her front door.Then she wanted me to camera her ducts from air @heat to see if she had any bugs in them ,she whispered the whole time we talked explaining her phones we tapped and her car and so.When I told my wife about her, she said she was once her school teacher and was so mean and nosey that things were coming back to bother her .I couldnt imagine this lady being that mean so I asked some old friends on classmates sure enought she was getting that way before she retired and had to be put away for awhile just after retiring.So like we have all heard what goes around comes around ( when I explained that when her heating and air were running the sound would probably render her BUGGS useless ) I spent a few minutes with my pipe locator telling her it would pick up signs of elect objects.Then I WISHED HER WELL AND LEFT ,NO CHARGE.After that she gave me all her plumbing work and reccommended me to her sunday school class. I offered to meet with all of them at their church(passing out cards and plungers with my name on them) and give them an emergency class on plumbing emergenys ,CUT OFFS ETC I got more work for the next few yrs from them than any money on a book ad could ever have done for me ,stickers in those days were my thang, I stuck them under sink on cabinet door and on breaker pannell box in basement.Any place they wouldnt get tossed away with water heater or telephone books what worked 25# yrs ago will still work today
