That's pretty effing rude if they called your boss' number to get you to come out. I don't mind doing side work for family or what not, but people that get my name through work I do for my boss and then try to get me to do side jobs, can F-Off. He would be pist if I took the work anyway, but thats besides the point. It's a morality issue for me.

I was at a New Years eve party at a family members. Usual crowd, some of his neighbors. Met this one dude several times. (popo). He starts asking me all kinds of plumbing questions, yadda yadda. I am humoring him with generalized answers. So he asks me if I do side work. I tell him sure, only It costs WAY more than regular time, as I am the company owner, and if you want me on a night or weekend, it'll be expensive.

He says he'll call to set a regular appointment. (Sure you will)

Dumb ass.

I worked at this Ladies house one time. she was well up into her 80's maybe even 90's. I was fixing a leak on her tub and everytime I would walk out to the truck to get something she would ask if I wanted something to eat or drink. I would refuse everytime and I could actually see the disappointment in her face. So when I got done the job she offered to fix me a sandwich and i accepted it. I sat there and talk to this lady for about 3 hrs. She know more about football hockey and baseball than any man I had ever met. When I was getting ready to leave she told me that she had 6 kids but all of them were out of state and she didn't get to see them much. After that anytime I was in her neighbor hood I would stop in there to check on her and she always would fix me a sandwich and we would sit and just chat. Like sewer ratz post she ended up passing away. I was sitting at the house the night she died and I got a call from her son. She had requested that I be a pall bearer at her funeral. I accepted. he then ask me if I would like to speak at her funeral. I declined at first but changed my mind after he kept insisting. It made me feel good that I had made such an impression in her life.
