Default handling new employee that dosnt know anything

hi guys,
SO ive never had to fire someone, except for the not showing up/ drugs...

So i hire this guy that had tons of credentials, nice guy, had his own company ext.
Interview:
I tell him we do 80% commercial work. He says perfect.
I show him a plan to a huge building, go through it with him, he knew what everything was.
He answered all the questions almost as good as i could.
So i hired the guy ( at very good pay).

I have him doing a design build job, easy. My other plumber did 80% of the cast iron and the helper did the copper drops.
So i have this guy finishing the job, because i wanted to give him something easy to start.

Just today the ?s.
Back to back sinks, sheet rocked above...What side is hot?
Slab wasnt cut enough..Can i use PVC? ( MA= Cast, hes a master plumber in MA.)
Ejector pump for the basement. Can i use a PVC combo check and valve..(theres a box next to this with 2- options how to pipe this..)

What topped it off: Floor drains too high,( the flooring guy never put the under layment down that was supposed to be done).?? Screw the ****ing drain in...At worst turn over the top..

I have a 15$ hr helper that was telling this guy what to do.

The guy started a week ago, and honestly just need a plumber...
I dont like firing someone, but he either lied or has a "issue".
When i talk, meet with him. I get the "im the best plumber around" attitude witch is fine....If you have a clue.

Anyone in south eastern Mass looking/ know someone looking for a job??

Just to add. This guy isnt joking about the non-sense either. Hes serious...

He wasnt doing federal work before.(were you can PVC)

He was "begging" for a house to plumb. Yesterday, on the interview he said it dosnt matter to him res./ com.

I honestly think the guy is ****ing with me. Or hes on some good drugs..But ive never had someone waste so much of my time. Out of 12 guys i have..idk

He said what he had to say to get the job. I've dealt with plenty of guys that talk a good game but when it comes to game time they can't hack it. Usually the ones who brag how good they are can't plumb a doll house.

Just tell him that he & your company just don't seem to fit together. Wish him well, & tell him AMF.

Worse is braggers who get offended by advice or refuse to listen. Hopeless.

Train him, until he hits set markers that you set cut his pay. He will one listen and learn or two quit. Give him no slack hard old school brutal training. If he survives he will be a good plumber.

Should've asked him about using a folding ruler, if a blank stare in reply, thanked him in advance for saving you the trouble. .
